Decommissioning Ships
This is getting really frustrating. I love this game so far, but there's no way to get rid of old ships. What kind of oversight is this? Now my map is filling up with ships and it's becoming a massive clutter.

Is there any patch or updates coming out to address this?

One way is to just send a few small fleets to intercept much larger Cylon fleets. Then use Autoresolve as your Recycle button. In most cases the Cylons should remove the extraneous ships for you. Though in some very rare case a since Manticore can take out a 8,000 point Cylon force. Either way it's a win/win.
Or just park them at Ragnar

That defeats the purpose of "decommissioning". If I wanted to do that, I could do it right now. Just saying, this game had an oversight in that area

I think the closest you will get is parking them with a crappy officer over a colony in Helios Delta for the Fortify bonus, then allowing them to get swamped by the tide of Raiders once a Cylon fleet shows up.

all ships are viable throughout, no such thing as old ships... your less used fleets are supposed to be used to fortify the 12 colonies

Until the map fills up with them

The story of the game is that you're fighting a desperate battle vs the Cylons where every ship counts. Why would you decommission capable warships if they could still defend strategic locations? Just put them all in Helios Alpha and intercept every cylon fleet that pops up.
Personally, I'd love the ability to donate ships to the colonies. Each colony has it's own defence fleet afaik and you're just bolstering their defence / flying the colours when you park a fleet in orbit.

Being able to donate ships at a reduced Tylium cost to colonies would be a great (and lore friendly) way of recycling old ships. Bonus points if it improves your standing with them too.

Now that's something I could get behind. Good solution.

I made fleets from all my old ships and anchored them on all the star lane points so that my main fleets could travel around faster and not be bogged down with random battles that I could just autocalc with the decommissioned fleets. :daid:

NEVER.. decomission a ship. Every single ship has the potential to kill a cylon ship. Running a Berserk for example in a fleet with 3 jupiters can be just as usful as running with a ademant or support ship . Use it for Assult raptors or use its huge damage output. If u have a manticore ... use it to scout and boost its dradus to see what they have so u can get missile lock. Theres no need or reason to get rid of a ship . If u pile them up just use it as another fleet.

The problem is that you have exactly 7 capital slots and a finite point limit per fleet to work with. Say, in my case I frakked up the early-game fleet pick by going 3 Adamant: 2 Berzerk instead of 2:3, so I have trouble integrating my first flight of Battlestar production.

Whereas using them as another fleet likely leads to a dysfunctional fleet. An example is trying to use the early-game Manticore force against an all-Cerates fleet.

Short answer, don't build so many "junk" ships.
One thing i have noticed, many seem to rush through the early part of the
campaign. I do the opposite. I will usually build up to 3 fleets of 7 adamant
frigates. Then proceed to the shipyard mision that gives up the viper Mk II's
and the battlestar.
By doing this, i have a stong base fleet and none have to be junked as
adamant frigates are allways useful. I never build manticores, not because
they are bad but they have limeted use/value after the initial few "story"
missions.
Dispite owning all DLC, i never build bezerk ships either. I don't see the point
in the "poor man's adamant". Most of my fleets are heavy on missile cruisers
mid to late game, a couple of battlestars to provide fighter coverage.
Then i deploy a EW raptor and vipers first move, post jump.
I send them after the enemy fleet whilst i OPEN the range at full boost.
As soon as i can identify targets i go off boost and turn to engage.
This allows me to fire 2-3 missile volleys before they can ID me for a firing solution.
This is usually enough advantage to give me a relitively easy win.

"Adamant frigates are always useful" "Berzerk is the poor man's Adamant"

... What?
