Only three types of Battlestars?
Is that correct? Two with the base game and an additional Battlestar in one of the DLCs?

I know the series was light on information aside from the direct looks we got at Galactica and the Mercury-class Pegasus, but only three types is kind of a disappointment. Maybe I've played too much of that Sins of a Solar Empire BSG mod with its 10+ types of Battlestar.

For people who have the game, does you feel limited in what you can deploy? There does seem to be decent variety in support ships, even if they're not as sexy as Battlestars. Is it enough?

I have never felt limited in this game...and given the time frame of the game Valkyrie might be the only bsg they could add as mercury is newer than the jupiter

I think the Asgard class would be more fitting than the Valkyrie

I really think that's quite enough. Battlestars are capital ships, the center of a fleet. A real fleet doesn't have scores of main big ship but a few with its screens and escorts and specialised ships.

Also, this is the first cylon war, when the battlestar concept is supposed to be quite new and ressources are supposed to be scarse.

Well, to be frank:

For what purpose would we need 10+ battlestar models. in the end we would field the best one.

Right now, we have the Artemis, which is the middle child, so to speak of tank and gank.

Jupiter is the big bro, the fleet anchor. the moving fck you missiles wall.
The Newest child is the love child of the minotaur and an atlas. High gank, 2 fighters. All made of wet tissue.

Its the step up from the berzerk.

Would i like to se a valk and a mercury? Sure. But with a niche please.

I mean the Mercury is essentialyl a bigger much meaner version of the jupiter. You make it more expensive? So? Still gonna field it and a swarm of zerkers.

The Valkyrie? What role would she have?

An stragical map role? IE chance to get attacked less? because combat wise there is no niche for her.

Just for notice:

I would totally be down for mercurys and new age cylon basestars.

If that were at all possible....

You could have the merc produce new vipers, have the new age basestar be a faster or fleetwide munition production...

We are 50 years from the 2nd war technologies... I am already uneasy about some choices of the devs regarding this. Ships sould be crude and sturdy. Janus is perfect in that regard

The janus is my go to boat for the deidalos fleet.

Because you can stuff in 7 of them and each will carry 3 nukes for free.

It makes missions.. a blast.

You have to also remember the Colonials went backwards alot during the First War so some of the ships they used could of use some first War tech that became more and more uncommon later on the war. During blood and Chrome adama use a VR to fly a viper in a training sim.

Janus with three nukes makes any fleet happy cause it can kill three ship quickly. Also the Janus is a very old design by the time of the first war.

Blood & Chrome is a huge pile of crap. Almost like The last Jedi.

Let's not get crazy here. B&C may have been disappointing, but The Last Jedi set a new low in moviemaking and was the death knell for Star Wars as a franchise.

For my take, the worst bit about B&C was the absolute lack fo Galactica. She's barely in it!
I went in expecting a slew of fancy space dogfights and rolling battles across space. Instead I got an infantry movie. I can get that from any number of other productions, thank you very much, moviemakers!

That was a down side to B&C was the lack of space battles. It would of been nice to see a full Battlestar group fight it out with the cylon fleet. As for the Last Jedi that movie was so bad from a story point of view from me.

Am on the fence (as usual) and had a few questions. The previous Starhammer game offered 9 "enemy" and 7 colonials to choose in skirmish. How many does this base game have to choose, and how many with one or both dlc's?

Thanks a lot!

Battlestars are supposed to be something really special, the Artemis was the first type and only by the the time of the game do we get the Jupiter. Canonically, each Colony only got the one Jupiter, and they were the pride of the fleet. This makes it actually a bit silly lore-wise that you can field as many as you want(Given point constraint) I know the BSG mod, and honestly they should have only made the Titans battlestars with the rest being support to preserve that feel. In the series Battlestar production ramped up massively after the war in preperation for a retaliatory strike, but even after 40 years of undisturbed peace they had 120. Ten+ different types seems feasible then, but only in the sense of a continuous ''bigger and better'' mentality. They would still have the same role, that being the centerpiece of a fleet that they can protect with their flak fields and Vipers.
