Beyond Deadlock: What would we want from a sequel?
I know this may seem like a premature topic. BUT I like Deadlock. I like how it's been presented and how it gives us a chance to punch back against the Cylons rather than having to constantly run from them, like in games based around the Galactica's Exodus; or go down fighting, like in Mod games like Diaspora.

Things I'd Love to see:
-A Character driven story. You play as a single character rising from a Cadet in the Colonial Academy working there way up. It could start maybe 15-20 years after the Armastice.

-Picking your Home Colony: Different Pro's Con's to each.

-More Conspiracy, Plot, etc: Politics in the fleet, in the colonies, etc.

-Pirates, Terrorists, and other Human foes. the Saggies just can't let it go, can we? They, I meant they.... <.< >.>

-War Games: Friendly Fire, that's actually friendly. Missions that are simulations where the rounds fired are virtual and your character is scored based on their performance.

-Crew Building: Pick your officers, screen your enlisted, and put together a team worthing of the name 'finest' in the fleet.

-Diverse armaments. Load Heavy Penetrators against armored targets, or set your Flak rounds ot contact detonation if your facing something a little more 'imporvised.'

-Squadron Size: More Vipers. MORE. VI. PERS.

-Boarding and Marine action: Sometimes you 'don't' want to blow up the enemy ship. Sometimes.

-Tactics, Stealth, Surprise- It might not work on the Cylons, but Human brains still fall for 'good old' tricks.

*Ship Building and Editing* Being able to design your own Gunstars, Carriers, Cruisers, Assault ships, Etc and propose the designs to the Quroum and get them put into the fleet. What? No I don't want my new ship to be CNP compatible. Why do you ask?

-Bending the Rules, Breaking the Law; The option to do things the Admiralty frowns on, and the Quorum Forbid. It could get you caught, and court Martialed, but it might stack the deck in your favor, come The Day.

-Fully Voiced: When I saw and played big games like Mechwarrior that don't have full dialogue, it makes the text walls feel crippling.

---

The whole game could take place during the time between the First Cylon War and the Holocaust of the Twelve Colonies, the player character getting dreams and flashes of the worlds burning as they move closer and closer toward the day. Then you hear that in the coming Armastice Day, the original Galactica is getting decommisioned and made into a Muesuem, and you know. That's the day.

Babylon 5

1.)

No sequel required. Just add more to this game.

2.)

Babylon 5. Bab 5 space battles with a turn based system like this. And epic camera.
You could tell a more battle laden Bab 5 story with a bit of a streamlined plot, for example of a orinigal character going through the ranks in Eath Force, ranging fom the Dilgar war, to the minbari war, to the shadow war, to the War agaisnt clarke. Or go full Alternative and twist the Plot.

Campaign coop. Skirmish coop is fun for a round or two but lackluster on the whole.

A Babylon 5 game ain't happening, the studio who own the rights aren't interested in creating anything new Babylon 5 because of politics.

As for a sequel? The BSG universe is very limited in what you can do. I guess you could explore Colonial politics and certain aspects of that, but it'd be pretty limited. I can only imagine a sequel to this game being set shortly after Deadlock and shows more of the first Cylon War or a game set in an alternate reality where the sneak attack on the Colonies wasn't as devastating (the Cylons didn't expect it to be such a clean sweep) and you're now in command of rallying the fleet and fighting back.

Prequel of the war between the 12 colonies.

Sequel where the armistice didn't happen.

Sequel regarding blackops after the armistice.

Or as stated by Phil, alterative history where the fall of the 12 didn't happen.

There no way to really do a Sequel mainly cause of how the story plays out. The show covers the very short second war we know the Colonial fleet put up the main fight near Virgon at the end of the day the fleet was destroy. Now it is possible elements escape but besides the Pegasus no other Colonial Warship is ever seen again.

I'd be quite interested in an expansion/new game where the second war wasn't a complete turkey shoot, and organizing that defense. A 'what if' story wouldn't be bad at all. Bringing old ships out to avoid issues with new ones, while working to strip and refit vulnerable assets to harden them against cyber attacks, now you've got a tech progression and fleet limiter right there.

Ship design would be neat, but I feel it'd just fall into a minmax approach, as much as I'd personally love it. And hell yes to more boarding. I'd love to see more aggressive boarding attacks from the Cylons, and to be able to respond in kind.

- UI improvements (just click on enemy to attack it, click on friendly to defend it, health bar and armor ring around unit)

- Maybe real-time battles this time, like in Empire at War.

- Cylon campaign :>

- Modding

- the UI needs some love, lots of quality of life improvements needed here, I think
- (decent) modding support, especially including the ability to import ship models, skins etc that we make

Not sure how married we are to wego - I'd like to see the possibility of fighting in realtime at some point.

That was a long time ago. And money talks.

Frack, B5 even made it onto a streaming network.

One no one ever heard of that doesn't even work on a firestick...but still.

This is current, the creator of Babylon 5 said as recently as a few weeks ago the studio has no interest in creating anything new B5 related because of petty politics and just make dough off selling the old series. The only reason you hear about any B5 project being a movie is because the creator has rights to that, but not anything else.

Well, how bout this for a new functionality. Crew upgrading. I have a maticore for example that has over 22 kills ot its name. What if you had the possibility of 'transfering crews' to larger ships. Like you loose a Manticore but you get to upgrade it to a Minotaur for a discount AND that minotaur keeps the same name as the old ship and has a higher skill level than a stock off the line minotaur?

OMG, that's exactly how I wanted to answer. It might be difficult, though - the races there are not on par with each other in many cases.

Love B5 but I'll settle for a Master of Orion remake with these combat mechanics.
