So... about Resurrection/Galactica's strategy table (aka a letter from the pocket dimension)
So let me start by saying I absolutely love this game. Overall I think the devs have done an amazing job and the amount of love and care put into crafting the ships and the lore in Deadlock is amazing to see.

Which is why I'm legitimately kinda sad about what's been done with the new strategy table and the starmap.

Now I realize I can only speak for myself here, but across Deadlock and S&S quite literally half the game for me was creating fleets, naming the ships and the officers leading them, and spreading them out across the 12 colonies to blast toasters and look good doing it. Not only that, but the extra context and limitation added by having to move fleets around Cyranus made for an added layer of gameplay (early on at least) and immersion.

Which is why, after playing Resurrection, it really feels like half the game has been ripped out with the way the starmap is being handled. You just jump out of the Pocket Dimension (aka staging ground) to hit a mission, and get randomly sucked back in when you're done. Gone is the motivation to even make more than one or two extra fleets, since there's no more deploying them across Cyrannus, no more engaging random fleets just for the heck of it, no more responsibility to protect the Colonies.

And trying to get officers fully promoted in Resurrection becomes a chore that isn't even worth your time or requisition points - why would you even need them when you can just deploy Nash and the Galactica from the Pocket Dimension directly to any objective as needed?

I get that maybe the devs wanted to illustrate a difference between being on the Daidalos and being on the Galactica, but IMO the shrink in perspective has legitimately damaged the game.

I went from being super-stoked to get my hands on the Jupiter MkII and churn out a bunch of them to just being sad that there's no real point in doing so - and that I won't be able to use them in my trusty old post-Marathon or mid-S&S saves.

So my request, if I might make one, would be to revamp the Galactica's strategy map at some point here in season 2 to allow fleet placement and freedom of movement again. I'm sure there's a way to tie placement into the new Cylon threat meter, ie fortifying certain colonies or locations helps counteract the threat meter's debuffs or helps/enables recons or something.

Or heck, maybe we could get a new late-war fleet commander+skirmish mode?

Resurrection is obviously more story oriented (albeit quite short...).
I am concerned, too, that we lost the "strategic map" for a minimal version of it : you still have the systems, but do not choose where to go and so on.

We'll see with future DLC.
As for the story, it is quite good and I am eager to reach the end.

haven't Adama piloted Assault Raptor in this war abroad Gallactica? Or I mixed the timeline?
I partly agree. Much of the fun in the previous season was fighting the Cylons to take over the map. I'm OK with it being a little different for Resurrection...as long as it does not stay that way too long. It's basically the same in my opinion and that is OK with me...short term. I'm open to modifications. I have experimented with 8000 fleets that include the J2 just for the fun of it. It's just a DLC, but I agree with you, I like the original board best. I think the Galactica's CIC is just as good a place to use the original star map. (PS. The CIC could be a little less isolated)

The new map was good for the story they wanted to tell with BSG-75. I do hope we get the full system map back later on while it was fun to run around BSG-75 i did miss my old base and my fleets that i builded up. I did built i think three other fleets during the story namely just to hit resource missions and i use RP to promoted them to where they had at least a decent size fleet or enough powerful ships.

Could not agree more with the OP. I enjoy the game, enjoy BSG-75, and definitely the new helpful grouping features, but the absence of the strategic table, building fleets, protecting the 12 colonies, not having jump somewhere EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It just seems like a bit of a downgrade.

Can always play the earlier DLCs and main campaign, but without J2 or the other new items. I'll lend my voice to hoping in the future we can restore some of what was lost with the table, keeping the colonies happy, etc. If there was one major complaint about the new DLC, this would be it.

I think Resurrection takes place too early in the war for Adama to have joined. Also, I'm not sure if Deadlock's writers consider Blood and Chrome canon. Fans debate about it.

I finished Resurrection with only 3 'fleets'. the main one at 8k, and the other 2 at only 4k and 5k because they only saw action whenever the main fleet was unavailable. The story was great, the Ju MkII an amazing beast, economy/strategy felt really lackluster for this one. I am hoping that similarly as they did with the original deadlock(by adding BA etc) that they'll add some more to it. Having so little to do besides the story missions was a bit dissapointing. The added inability for the Cylons to directly attack you hurts the experience as well, you are completely in control of which battles you fight; there are no surprises as long as you use the scouting feature. An added downside to having so little else to do is that, even though theres like 10-11 missions or so, the campaign just feels really short.

Lol it is kind of funny cause everyone in Blood and Chrome gets lost somewhere like Gallactica during Deadlock

I agree with the OP. Instead of downgrading the campaign the devs should think of making it better.
I want to thank the developers for providing a way to sell or trade unused ships for Tylium, RPs and political advantages. Good move on that. No complaints.

I read this review and didn't really know what to think until I got to play. I agree that this is fine as a one-off or as part of a Galactica-themed set of DLC but it's weird compared to the regular game. Getting sucked into the pocket dimension is exactly how it feels. I'm so conditioned to think about the FTL cool down period and pacing my movements. There's no need to construct multiple fleets since it appears that the Galactica is always available. Maybe if the resources get stretched I'll need to have an alt-fleet for cool down instead of just paying the money to instant jump.

The Jupiter II makes for an expensive addition to the fleet and really chews up the points. My preferred late game fleet is 1 jupiter and two arties and there's not much room for anything else after that.

I would like my map back. This takes away almost all strategic tactics, that were few and uncomplicated to start with.
