purchasing first ships broken
I looked for this issue but could not find. sorry of already known BUT I just purchased the DLC thinking that with that and the new patch, the game will be more playable. Things looked good until I tried to purchase my first two new ships. I knew I would need a third ship early on so I queued up one of the new ships from the DLC and moved on. The campaign then told me I had to purchase a new ship (I guess it did not know I already started a new ship) so I purchased a second. The problem is, the game wants me to fast track that ship but I dont have enough money since I have 2 ships now in the build queue. Too bad, it wont let me off the screen or cancel one of the ships...nothing...I am stuck and have to stop the game.

There does seem to be a problem we didn't ancipate, whereby purchasing a ship too early causes this stuck state. For now, if you restore to an earlier save, or restart, then wait until after the tutorial section is complete, you should be able to progress.

We'll look at a better solution for the next update.

Actually, a question about how you did this. Buying ships should be locked down until the after the second mission. How were you able to purchase a ship before then? Did you perhaps start a campaign and then restart after 1 or 2 missions? Also, are you using mouse/keyboard or a gamepad?

I am playing on a PC using mouse and keypad. After the first mission I was able to look at ship designs the small carrier (cant remember the name of it) was listed so I purchased with 3 turns to build. It was not built by the time the game suggested I build my first ship and then I got stuck at the requirment to rush build, Interestingly I just loaded the last save game and I had the suggested ship (adamant I believe) built and everything was fine. The DLC ship I had queud was no longed in the build que.

How did you access the screen to build ships? i.e. what buttons/keys did you use? I'm trying to work out how you got to that screen before it's shown in the tutorial. Thanks.

"me too" ( refer to my thread on bug between chapter two and three ).

I can't tell you the exact key presses to get there, but I was able to get to the 'build ships' menu and set a Bezerk to be built.

And yes, it was after abandoning an earlier campaign (without the DLC). I abandoned the first campaign because the "signals" battle never ended, despite having no more targets and scouting everywhere.

I abandoned my second campaign because I couldn't proceed since I didn't have enough to rush the build of the Manticore.

I've not had any issues on my third run through.

It would be great to have a campaign choice that just started us with a skeleton fleet, where we didn't have to always do the "signals" and so on scripted chapters, and fight it out. This campaign should probably have more of the random missions that pop up, with rewards, to compensate for not having the rewards in the script chapters.

To be truthful, I'm actually on my fourth run through because I bought the PS4 release. I only mention this in case it sounds like I'm negative about the game - I've bought it (and the DLC) twice now.

i managed to use the bazerk class as one of my first starting ships and it wasnt broken for me. my economy kept stable. just remember jumping costs tillium so reduce large jumps and usually get through the first 3 main missions to help you along.

That's right, if you remember about the need to rush the manticore, and make sure you have sufficient funds before getting to that stage, there wouldn't be any problem.

Thats not the issue. It does not allow you to move forward off the screen because it requires you to fast track the build. if no funds then game is locked.

We've been able to reproduce the problem, and are looking into how to resolve it. Thanks for the information, you've all been really helpful.

I understand that, Duane, because I had the same issue and posted about it earlier.

What I wrote was

Of course, if you don't know about the problem before you strike it, too late. The game is locked, and unless you've got a save from before you built the Bezerk (or whatever) then it's time to restart the campaign.

Great, thanks for looking into it!
