Haha, yeah those are supposed to be Manticores. I've edited the OP :)
I have used that fleet as well to good effect. The two Manticores can stick togather and use speed/maneuverability to find targets of opertunity, allowing you to focus fire/torpedo a single unit (such as a nemisis or talon) in 1-2 rounds. There isn't a big differance between a 3x or 4x Adament stack in the early game. Manticores are also faster to build, and easier to replace.
I have even used 4x Manticore, 2x Adaments... 4 manticores focus firing will melt a nemisis in one round at max Offense. And 4 Torpedo volleys in one turn, while focus fireing can easiely kill most larger ships in 1 round. It wont work against a player, but it works great against the AI.
Four Adamants and one Manticore means your Manticore is only good for scout duty. At this low point level, that's 500 points not very well spent. By bringing a buddy, they can pair up and put some real hurting on Cylon light ships. They're especially good at hunting Nemesis, which are a major pain in the early game.
Four Adamants can certainly work, though. Their fighter squadrons make them really versatile.
the points limits for each size is diffrent now; there are 4000 and 6000 limits now and no 3500 and 6500 could be more but i just got back into this game.
as well as all of the new ship and ordnace types
