Viper Defence
i'm still struggling with ep 6, while the Vipers MK 1 seem to defend the transports they don't seem to defend the Mothership.....do they shoot down missiles ? or just attack anything that comes near

Another question should i try to lvl up my Commander in skirmishers or just go into the next mission and hope for the best ?

I personally levelled up my commanders between episodes, I am in my first campaign I started on August 31, I have something 412 battles fought at the moment, and I have the episode Galactica availble, just not doing it yet

Your Viper Mk1s won't be doing a good job at this point, best to switch to Mk2. Vipers defend when the enemy gets close, they can only go after one batch of missiles at a time so having a Battlestar will take care of that problem with flak. It's more effective to have your Vipers hunt the raiders, mainly to avoid the cylons from ever launching missiles/torpedoes in the beginning. Best to maneuver your ships away from the cylons till the raiders are all dealt with. This becomes crucial if you want to keep your ships alive against 6 Cerberus carriers or 6 Basestar fleets.

I would suggest grinding your officers and make at least 4 fleets. This way you can cover every single solar system. Also just leave your shipyard in Ragnar, having four fleets allows your to escort your replacement ships to your fleets.

When you deploy your fleet you can select the Viper MK2 then. Each ship as you place them hav e an icon next to them, click it to change them.
one hint, put the transports behind you Daidalos Station as fast as you can, grab all incoming cylons at their jewels asap, send vipers to those who are on a flanking course. worked for me.

thx i feel like a total noob for missing this,Vipers MK2 and Raptors wiped a total fleet....except for the space collisions, insurance premiums went up 120 % :)

I literally just finished this one. I assigned the transports to move in and above Daidalos Station, allowing the station to use it's flak to defend the transports. I then assigned the Vipers to square off with the Raiders and then assigned three squadrons each to attack each a capital ship, splitting my fleet of 4 Adamants and 2 Corvettes to focus fires on a capital ship at a time, ensuring to only launch half of my missile silo at each capital ship. I just kept focused on 2 capital ships at a time. Once the new drados contacts arrive, I then sent my Vipers to investigate and engage, along with a corvette each.

My question though, is now that I unlocked the Viper II blueprint, I do not see an option to upgrade my current Vipers to the MkII. How do you do this?

it's in the deploy option on each ship before combat ( someone pls make a guide ) i sortied a combination of Raptors and MK 2's but those stupid transports ran into an asteroid....on my 4th attempt now...i swear i'll get it

Thanks Evil Doc, just found how too in another thread too. Are Raptors worth using? I saw they only have ECM capability, unless I misread the description

only use 2 to 3 the rest are MK 2 Vipers, the missile payload is not really worth it on the Raptors.....i might start again with this extra knowledge
