Recording and Exporting AutoCam replays
Hi!

We've just added a new, un-announced feature: Recording and Uploading of Autocam replays!

Please note it's a brand new feature and we would like to hear your feedback, so we can make it even better.

To use it:

1. Play a battle, any battle. Frak some toasters
2. Choose View Replay
3. During the replay, press the Esc Key to bring up the control panel.
4. Select Record Autocam - The game will automatically rewind to the start of the battle and start exporting a video of the battle.
The videos are stored in \Documents\Black Lab Games\BSG\Videos
5. Once the video has finished recording, carry on playing!

To View and Upload:

1. On the main menu, select Video Browser
2. Here, you can view and replay all the videos that you've exported

To View:
1. Press Play to view the Video and select the Full Screen button to view full screen

To Upload:
1. Press Upload to upload the video to your YouTube channel
2. The upload program will ask your permission and ask you to authorise with your YouTube channel
3. It will then spawn a window to upload the video file
4. The video will be uploaded to your YouTube channel with a Public privacy setting and will appear on your channel once YouTube has processed it

To Delete:
1. Press Delete to delete the video

Thanks!

aaaaaaaaaargh, wish I read this before my first game because my first two "tutorial missions" looked EPIC during replay! Did not think of using the ol' Nvidia capture (or any other capture) either.

EPIC!

If this keeps going at the same pace, this will become one of my favorite games of the (last couple of) year(s).

You've made a sweet game with some VERY smart stuff happening.

Sadly the system seems to be broken.

This feature was only added a few days ago so we may have missed a few bugs. Sorry about that. If you can post your error log the team can look in to it.

Can you add the ability to change the directory at some point? I adore this feature though.

We'll certainly consider that for a future update, thanks.

what about Licence and rights ownership? choose standard youtube licence?
Slitherine_Iain  [developer] Sep 1, 2017 @ 4:30am
That's fine - we want you to share these as much as possible. No problem how you use them and the standard youtube license is fine.

My 2c.

If possible I'd like two things with the replays.

Start the replay with menu activated, instead of having to ESC, it is imo the more logical starting state.

Mp4 should be a secondary choice, standard should be in game buffer replay, that can be saved, played, edited and recorded to Mp4.

We used to have the menu appear but people were missing the auto cam and as its so cool we wanted to default to that, so we think this is the better of the two options but happy to listen to feedback.

I'm not sure what you mean about the buffered replay. Whats the difference between that and not recording the replay as it works now?

You deffo improved the auto cam, a week ago it moved about now it zooms in and out instead, it reminds me of the BSG cam in the tv show :)

I think the system could get some additional improvements.

1. Wait until a scene end befor you switch to the next. In this video, the cam following the one cylon torpedo is sooo awesome but before the torpedo hit the target the camere switched. :(

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M6u1mEBXyo

2. Replay should start with ships jumping in. Maybe first 5 sekonds show the cylon fleet waiting of moving, then the colonials jump in. Or show the colonials waiting and then the cylons jump in. The shots in campaign replay when reinforcements jump in looks so great! Sadly you will never see it in a normal game. :(

3. More Damage States for the Sections. So when maybe front loose ther arme, whe should see fire and air venting out of the hull (look for example on empire at war for inspiration) so we can see without the data, how damaged the ships are. Made the autocam battle much more readable.

4. Battle-Chatter. it dont need to be real speech, it could be fake-speech like sims. But hearing the pilots talking durnig fight, big ships give commandos or damage reports (and explosionsounds) when torpedos hit a ship would be really awesome.

I keep getting the endless "Working" after playback.

How do I get you an error log?
Black Lab Games Sep 1, 2017 @ 7:31pm
To get a log, bring up the games properties (right click in your games list), select Local Files -> Browse Local, and go into the BSG_Data folder. Look for output_log.txt

If you could send that to support@slitherine.co.uk, it would help us a lot.

Thanks.

I'm sending over the whole thing, but this set of lines shows up constantly when I'm trying to save a replay:
(Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/generated/common/runtime/DebugBindings.gen.cpp Line: 51)

Warning/GameAnalytics: Event queue: Failed to send events to collector - Retrying next time
It repeats that for a bit, then does
(Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/generated/common/runtime/DebugBindings.gen.cpp Line: 51)

Frame queue has hit the max size of 100

for a while, with an occasional repeat of the previous.
