Yes, it takes place in the 2003 series universe. It takes place during the First Cylon War, which is about 40 years before the start of the show. However, they took every chance they could get to add cameos, references, and details from the 1978 series into the canon for 2003 universe. For example, the 1978 Battlestar design, with some updates, is in the game as the Artemis-Class Battlerstar. The 1978 Viper is there as well, retconned as the Viper MK.I here!

Hmmm, me thinks it would be relatively easy for the devs to create a original series only mod, if they have the models in place, and the ones that are not can be added in a dlc with a full original series option.

So ... not only do they have an option for a Cylon dlc, they can also add an original series mod.

First Cylon War... hmm, will it mean that Admiral William Adama himself will appear as First Class Viper Pilot ..? Didn't he fight in the First Cylon War?

Probably not, because then they'd have to pay Edward James Olmos literally all of their budget for the likeness.

PexDemaR, the Devs said that at the current point in the war, Adama wasn't even born yet. Yes, he takes part in the War, but that's way later than the portion that we actually play.

Uh. Adama is in his 60s in the show. Do the math. Whoever said that - if they did say that - doesn't have a clue.

I'm not even getting into the fact that he's a newborn child in Caprica.. mainly because Caprica is worse than Galactica 1980.

No it isn't. Caprica was gaining speed, before it got cancelled. It maybe shouldn't have been as Irobot as it was, witht the daughter as the first cylon, but it was in no way worse than Galctica 1980 or OG BSG.

Oh please, it was trash-garbage soap opera grade nonsense.
Much like season 4 of BSG, only without the cool spaceships and (some) characters who were likable.

I'll take flying motorcycles, disco Cylons and Colonial Warriors in bleached white uniforms telling us Nazis are in fact bad over that any day.

Incidentally, and this is rather off topic but it amuses me - you know those skinjobs?
Yeah, Galactica 1980 invented them, the first appearance of a human Cylon was there.
Where is your [Cylon] God now!

I think you're coming from the topic a bit now! I saw the Swedish premier on the first movie in 1978, and is something of a BG nerd... So for me, the Caprica show was a fantastic creation and cool prequel to the new 2k show with a bit of steampunk and great atmosphere!..
But to return to Adama sr, it's a little strange and a bit off that Adama was born when the Cylon MK1 was created, which should mean he is a kind of upper teenager when the First War on Rebellious Cylons breaks out, if you follow the plot of the Caprica show, that will say!... But maybe I´m completely overboard here...

Well, say what you like, but that's also a result of the producers of Caprica being dumber than a pencil eraser but nowhere near as useful.

The kid seen throughout the season was meant to be Adama, and then they killed him off and made up a nonsense idea of parents naming their newborn kids for their older siblings because PLOT TWIST LOL.
PxDemaR Aug 25, 2017 @ 9:40am
Well, that was a TWIST, I will say... so much I´m lost...:steamfacepalm:
