"This is really exciting! The story mode in this game is extremely abundant in volume… and it seems like you can use all of the Jinchuriki in the battle mode!! Also, the video quality, animation and even all the fine details that have been put into the game look really great… Absolutely amazing!! The author shouldn’t be saying this, but this is more exciting than the manga! I can’t wait… seriously"
TL:DR Go right ahead.
That's not the answer I was expecting but hey, that's great news!
LMAO, Well there you go! Only thing I would say, is to really play all four of them, and then check out the Indra, Ashura stuff in the anime, that's all you would need lmao!
Storm 2 does a pretty decent job at telling the story from Shippuden and onward, with liberties here and there, but nothing so far that made me go "BAH!" There could a been a better job with some of it, but is isn't too horrible.
Storm 3 is amazing in terms of story, and in some regard tell it better than they did in the anime/manga. There are a few things that are purely wrong, but this is due to the game not giving the full story arc and instead having to end it where they did. And 4 does about the same quality as well.
All and all, if you are able to watch atleast the first 120 episodes of the orignal anime, you could play Storm 2-4 and get the rest of the story, be it a somewhat abridged version of the story, but the core storyline is still there.
TL;DR, watch atleast the orignal Naruto run until the 100 episodes of filler at the end if possible, and then do Storm 2 through 4.
all of them cut things out, but storm 1 does a terrible job of it and i would completely skip playing it for the story.
the story mode is also way more tedious than any of the following ones, being able to run around in the village doesn't make that go away or make it tolerable.
storm 2 is probably the best but i found storm 3 to be rather bad, the cutscenes tend to drag on and have terrible pacing. It reminded me of watching the one piece anime where there are long moments of silence and camera panning to pad the time. (i remember them bragging about how many hours of cutscenes they had during promotion)
That's why I just love evangelion or cowboy bebop, 24 episodes is the sweet spot.
Shonen anime is problematic in the sense that it's not very accessible to newcomers. We are often required to sift through a stackpile of filler and no matter how good of a story it is, it can end up being such a chore...
You can get a list of filler episodes and just skip them.
Even if the anime is often very poorly drown, it has a lot of epicness value backed with a great soundtrack.
It's very fun to watch and the story is very well taught.
But, it's true that Storm 2-4 do a wonderful job to sum up the story and some fight are even better in those games.
Storm 1 seems to loose too much history and if you don't watch the original series, it will feel very incomplete in the end.
Also, as these games are games.... you will lack all the teachings (or most of) Naruto has to learn to become who he is now. And that... is a pure tragedy.
In other words, the games's story are enough to themselves, but you will loose all the deepness of the story and for you Naruto will ever be some very dull story. Without real emotions.
Knowing the manga/anime will make you be like "NOOOOO", "HOLY FFFFF..." and "WOW", but if you just play the game with make you be like "Oh that's nice!", "What is it?", "hum.. ok."
So, my advice,
Watch all the anime in KAIs, it will take you a little while, but I can assure you that you will NOT regret it. Even if sometimes it looks pretty ugly. And them get amazed with the games.
Okay, we get it, you like the manga. As you said, it's his perspective, you don't need to comment everytime someone doesn't share yours.
