the sphinx asks you riddles, you can learn the answer from buying booze at the bar or fight him
There’s not really an answer to this one apart from the fact that the pig is alluding to the sphinx itself. It’s more of an obscure private joke that a riddle.
Aww ok. And here I was trying to find a word that could apply to all three, haha.
Club almost works (only for the first two though).
Drunkard maybe? In the morning he has ale, afternoon likes to play golf (kinda weird...?) and the evening he's way too drunk to even sit down.
But still, this easter egg makes me really curious about the other game. So in that sense, you guys succeeded ;)
The original arcade version was not officially translated into English until very late and most of the versions floating around that were exploited in the Western used a dodgy translation with made the Sphinx questions more confusing. The recent digital releases have the proper English translation.
Basically in the game you are supposed to get drinks at the tavern in the pyramd to get hints about what the Sphinx has been doing lately (hobbies include golf, karaoke, etc. what he hates) and when you encounter the boss he asks you a question. If you get it wrong you have to fight the Sphinx and its one of the hardest boss in the game.
Monster Land Arcade is an amazing game imho.
I'll be sure to check it out. Thank you for all the feedback and the amazing game on Steam of course :D
When I saw that riddle from the screenshot I thought, "Man, this is just as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up as those riddles of that Sphinx." I'm not sure if the developers wanted to make me remember Sphinx the way I have, but still.
