The one-heart thing caught me by surprise, but overall, it was easier than I feared. Some cheesy tips:
- Deal with with this mode as if it was a speedrun. Avoid fights whenever possible and don't stop to pick items except hearts and potions. Also, Learn to block projectiles effectively.
- Get the Dragon Mail early as Lizard-Man (he can withstand the lava). The yellow frogs in the beginning are very troublesome, but once you get past them, the coast is clear. This will make your visit to the volcano area as Piranha-Man much easier.
- Use the treasure chest in the secret room above the blocks maze (just before the forest area) to grind money early for the Crystal gear (exit to title screen to re-spawn the treasure)
- Stock potions from the potion shop before attempting any boss area. It will only cost 50G each.
- Make note of the enemies that drop hearts frequently.
- Get the Tasmania sword. It will save you time in the final dungeon and you can switch to Lion-Man (higher attack / defense stats)
- Get the Legendary gear before attempting the last dungeon. Re-open the chest that has the Legendary Sword to grind money for the shield (it has ~3000G)
