Muramasa Blade + Fire Flower = Lots of Damage
I remember from the original game that, when exploring the Underground with Lion Man, you would receive a fair amount of damage from Fire Flower projectiles. I figured out that when not using Muramasa Blade, the damage was reduced significantly.

The remake seems to keep this behavior, and I was wondering if the developers had found any explanation for this when digging the original code. I couldn't figure the logic behind this.

Hi, great find! Yes, I did indeed find the reason for this and was pretty thrilled to find out why. As it turns out, the fireballs from flowers or stones as well as the blue fuzzballs deal damage based on your own attack points, so having the muramasa blade impacts this quite negatively due to its high AP. My guess is that unlike other enemies, these particular ones don't have multiple colors (red/green/blue) and are used throughout the entire game, so that was an easy and smart way to make them challenging for the player even in later stages.

Humm, very clever. Thank you very much for the explanation

I imagine this was to keep the size of the assets small, Considering the game also ran on Hucards and those had teeeeny tinnnny space to work with.
