The worse part in my opinion is the forever "walking on ice" feel the game has.
Also this is not a tipical plataformer and you can't just blast foward smashing the attack buttom and hope to win. You need to be methodical, take little steps, learn enemies' movements and attacks and think twice before commiting to a jump.
It is an old game and it will punish you for not adapting to it's pace.
Still, it is not a hard game once you "get it".
That. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. cloud.
Itens are your friends.
Specially the arrows and the boomerang.
Look at the bright side, at least all we need to do now is press the bumpers on the controler to select the desired item.
When I playied on SMS back then, I had to go to the menu. Wich required to pause the game.
The pause button wasn't on the controller.
It was on the F***ING CONSOLE. XD
Also, still, f*** the blue cloud. XP
Why wasn't this tip on the manual, I'll never know. ¬¬
You are thinking about another game entirely.
It may be working like in the original and thus "as intended" but that does not make it a good design choice.
