The controls?
So.. Iv never played the original, I came into this thinking it'd be like a lot of playformers/old style games but Iv found the controls utterly frustrating to use, they feel very clunky and heavy, making dodging and attacking a chore.. am I missing something or should I be using keyboard rather than controller?

Nah! It is exactly like the original.

The worse part in my opinion is the forever "walking on ice" feel the game has.

Also this is not a tipical plataformer and you can't just blast foward smashing the attack buttom and hope to win. You need to be methodical, take little steps, learn enemies' movements and attacks and think twice before commiting to a jump.

It is an old game and it will punish you for not adapting to it's pace.

Still, it is not a hard game once you "get it".

Alright, yeah thats a good way to put it, It feels floaty yet somehow very heavy at the same time, I keep finding myself jumping and trying to time-shots and swings only for everything to be like.. half a second off, so I miss or get stunned or jump to high and fall like a rock lol ...also that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cloud.
That. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. cloud.

Itens are your friends.

Specially the arrows and the boomerang.

Look at the bright side, at least all we need to do now is press the bumpers on the controler to select the desired item.

When I playied on SMS back then, I had to go to the menu. Wich required to pause the game.

The pause button wasn't on the controller.

It was on the F***ING CONSOLE. XD

Also, still, f*** the blue cloud. XP

Is there any fix in the work for this? If not from the developers, from moders or something. The game looks really great but I simply can't play with such controls

One UNDOCUMENTED feature that REALLY helped me was using two controllers. You could open the menu by pressing any direction on the second controller.

Why wasn't this tip on the manual, I'll never know. ¬¬
this game is a well polished turd. Emulate the arcade version for the real feel. Yea the controls were floaty on that too but soon you could buy shoes that made the control pixel perfect, something i have not yet seen on this version. The stunlocking was NOT nearly as bad in the arcade in fact. Whythefuk put a invincibility after getting hit if you can still get stunlocked while invincible? absolutely disgraceful, thanks god i did not pay for it.

This game has NO arcade version. This one was made directly for home consoles, without any prior arcade version.

You are thinking about another game entirely.

I don't think they're going to "fix" the controls, because they're exactly the way they were in the original, which is working as intended.

Recently gave this a try because I wanted to play it before playing Monster Boy and holy moly do the controls feel delayed. It's like to actually move you have to first build momentum by pressing a direction and then when you stop pressing it, that momentum first has to decrease for you to stop. It seems like a neat idea on paper but in practice this makes for awful controls for a platforming game. You need to be able to quickly respond to enemy / object movement which is impossible with controls like these. You basically have to anticipate everything that you might have to react to to even have a chance to react.

It may be working like in the original and thus "as intended" but that does not make it a good design choice.
