Trying to remember what we had on NHL 97-98-99...
Played with arrows and had keys for:
- pass / switch player
- shoot / hook
- speed burst with the puck / speed burts + body check
- some kind of spin-o-rama or deke / block shot by laying on the ice
Anything else?
Don't remember what keys where used for fighting but there was: jab punch, hook punch and... I think grab jersey(?)
On the Mario Lemieux Ice hockey game on SEGA ther was a combo of two buttons that wolud make the other guy having a cartoonish facial expression with bulging eyes. ;-)
Then ther where also buttons for changing lines, changing strategy, pulling the goalie (?)
Would be logic to be able to edit the keys, I suppose. ;-)
I strongly suggest a button remap and allowing ANY button remap, even to mouse.
I also suggest to wait for full release if you really want suggestion for keyboard mapping as the game has some cool feature you discover the more you play, to not spoil anything
I prefer Arrow Keys too for Racing/Platformers/etc... am also old school so WASD for these types of games seems left handed too. Maybe if we can't map our own keys - have an option to chose WASD or Arrow Keys for movement.
There is lol.
Or perhaps I-J-K-L control for us old Apple //e users who didn't have the luxury of Arrow Keys.
I pretty much came to post this. Also if it hasn't been suggested already, maybe an alternate control mode where you use the mouse to move and can assign whatever keys (including mouse buttons) to passing/shooting/etc. I'm dying to play a current hockey game on pc instead of the old NHL games with their awful layouts and m/kb control are what will set these two apart.
Excellent point, Jack. I agree!
The store isn't showing being an Apple game tho :S
