Lonelyland VR

Lonelyland VR

Developer faerysword: My thoughts and suggestion after trying the game out...
The game idea is great.

Graphics: Well they could be better. With what you have now they are fine but I expect improvement, hopefully.

Locomotion: I would like to walk around this world as well as teleport using the map nodes. Have trackpad and teleport movement.

Motion controller support: This is a must for me as I do not like using a gamepad or keyboard with VR. The gun in right hand is good but the left could be used to do all the actions.

Head select: I can see how this may be good for gamepad users but I do not like do ing actions with my headset. I like to use it for free head looking.

The game difficulty: I understand you want it to be hardcore and that is ok but I still think that for people who can not stay in VR for long periods make a simple tutorial just to demonstrate how to cook and how to make guns and how to build. Maybe just one example of each just to get the feel for each tradeskill and then the rest we figure out on our own.

Health: Can we have slight health regen over time and eating does not give much health even on easy.

Price: The price you have now is too high. I think for starters in EA you should really not have this above $10 US. After you get more content then that would justify raising the price.

Conclusion: The primary thing for me with this type of game is making use of room-scale. It is a must have for me. I do not like sitting down in VR and I like physically walking around in my play space. The game in general is not bad and I am sure people will like it but for someone like me who is a hardcore room-scale user this would be a pass for me. I spent a lot for my VIVE and want to use it as much as I can for its main purpose. Some may say that it can be used for sit down games and that is true but I will buy or get as many room-scale games as I can like I have now and do not have time for any sit down games.

Bugs: There was a bug where the screen was geying out totally on and off. I wasn't sure if that was a loading situation between night and day or loading the rain in.

Overall good job on the game as it is. I hope to see where yo take this title. :steamhappy:

Update:
1. Save game option?
2. Turn Music off Option? Ambient nature sounds would be better for me. I don't like music in my VR games unless maybe we were at a town center or something.
Thanks.

Thanks for so many good feedbacks, and a nice video, we found some problems from the video too.

In this game, the most important thing you have to craft is the cooker, and a pan is good enough at beginning. Foods cooked with a pan can heal you better than eating them raw. Some kinds of food do better in healing, some good at keeping the starvation away, and some can cheer you up.

Head selection is a big problem we try to deal with at first. Room-scale we consider to add as a new mode, some of us may feel sick, so we’ll still keep the old mode. Add room-scale mode may take times, when it added we’ll let you know.

We’ll decrease the price, as compensating we decide to send keys or refunding is OK.

The bug I’m not quite sure. It seems something get in the way of the headset and the infra-red sensors in the video. And when a new day comes, there will be an auto saving, during that few seconds it could happen. And besides the auto save, the only way to save the game is exiting the game from system menu. And if you die, the save file will be deleted :)

Turn music off? You mean all the music? Fighting or sneaking music all turn off?

1. Yes nm option to turn music off and just keep attack sounds and ambient sounds.
2. As far as room scale goes and head set selection: Why would that make you dizzy to change?
3. Locomotion: you can have track pad movement or motion controller point and trigger to move where the controller is pointed or motion controller trigger teleport.
4. My lighthouses are fine. I have a 2.8 x 2.4 area. Not an issue from me with the grey out.

Thanks again. :)

I checked your video again, and noticed there’s a hint when the screen is grey. The hint is ” calibrating - look straight forward and hold still”, it’s strange, we never met it before, we’ll check it out if it happens again. And you look really tall, we didn’t consider about it, that make the UI even awful..
The free moving means redesign all the scenes, that’s really taking time, and what make things worse is one of our disc crashed, we lost some data to do it. So, you know, I’m not making excuse :)

Yeah I was way high up in my game. I am just making suggestions and telling my feelings so no woories on making excuses. It is your game and you can do with it as you please. What you have right now is interesting so keep improving on the idea. I'll keep checking in on it as you update it. Thanks. :steamhappy:
