bad control

The game is ... fine-ish. Except:

- The built-in "manual" opens in your default web browser thus resuming my previous session and opens tons of tabs. Was it really that difficult to create an in-game textbook guide like Spelunky does? You pick up an item and it gets added to your "discovered" items which you can read more information on at any time. Thats how a game is meant to be played. Not googling old and incomplete guides online!
And the online manual in this game is incomplete too.

- Lots of guessing. What item does what. How to complete the game. Etc.

- Lots of grind. You have to blindly navigate the maze. - Yes, there are "clues" that the game gives - those crystals give you 3 numbers like 5 3 2 - meaning there is something you need on 2 level, 5 column, 3rd row - but its still a maze and you could have picked up that item already - the game wont remember if that hint is still valid. + its a maze, so you have to navigate in zig-zag paths, even teleporting between the levels.

- The combat could be improved perhaps. There are lots of stupid death when you enter the room and the enemy stands near the entrance - thus hitting you.

- Also majority of the combat is just not fun. After playing for a total of 8 hours with character that I liked I'm just no longer interested in this game.


+ Nice background music
+ different characters to choose from.


The game is kinda.. OK. But not my cup of tea.
And there is little point to play it when you already have something else in the backlog.

why is it designed so every time i shoot a fireball im facing the wrong way? Beyond irritating.

What if you took all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ parts of NES games, didn't try to make anything better, and said "that's retro for ya."

As others have mentioned, the game has potential but an awful combat system severely limits the game. I enjoy games that are difficult but the difficulty must come from challenging gameplay, not RNG destroying your run. The game also offers you little instruction (even in the manual), you'll have to figure out a lot of the game's mechanics for yourself which can be hard to do since the game is so RNG-based. Also, ambush is possibly the worst mechanic I've seen in a game. What were the devs thinking putting that in?

I don't think this game was coded very well...? Didn't boot until I swapped OSs, and then the language setting was a weird lagfest where I think the game individually loaded the highlighted locale in its entirety as you scrolled through the list. Played the game for five minutes and there's..... some design designs.

Too tedious and cryptic to enjoy.

Only good if you like to have some easy achievements, +1, and cards

Loud 8-bit music is really intolerable and it is impossible to tune it down before it destroys our nerves and eardrums.
