Who is the best route to start with

After finishing my first route (Sara's) yesterday I'm getting the sense that this probably isn't a game where route order is that vital. One person on VNDB did suggest going Sara -> Himeno -> Charles -> Ricca but Kouryuu's guide seems to suggest the opposite and has you do Ricca's first, and I plan on doing Ricca's next myself after I finish the prologue story from the extras menu that I didn't notice until finishing Sara's route. (Though apparently you can do it immediately after unlocking Weather Vane arc.)

So yeah honestly I'd just say start with the girl that interests you the most in the start really.

It doesn't matter.
I'd do Sara or Charles first, Ricca and Himeno foreshadow the final 2 routes while the other 2 are independant.

Kouryuu's might be a little biased because Ricca was his favorite. As others mentioned, choose whoever you want first, with the exception of Aoi whose route is locked until the others are done.

I tried starting with Mikoto and I failed hard. Guess I'm starting with Charles because I always talked with Mikoto and her in the prologue.

I don't think your choices in the prologue actually matter. I just reloaded to see everyone's scenes.

None of the choices in the prologue have any affect in the Weather Vane arc; it's mostly for character interaction. Mikoto doesn't get a route until the fandisc D.C. III With You.

When I finish the prologue I must play the arc 1 ( Weather Vane ) or the first side story and then the arc?? I mean to understand better the story

Since the side stories were created as additional content following the original release of D.C. III, my opinion is to do the main stories first and save the side stories after completing all arcs.

I should have read the first side story before finishing Sara's route. There were developments in the first side story that were skipped in the common route. Maybe that's why Orange thinks it is better to do the side story first. I haven't read the others yet so I don't know if it would be a better experience to read it before proceeding to Himeno, Charles, & Ricca route.

Yeah, I actually didn't even notice the first side story was unlocked before doing Sara's route, but after I did it I also kind of wished I had done it first. It really feels like a natural extension to the beginning of the common route and stuff in it gets referenced constantly in the common route anyway.

The last side story featured the characters from D.C. II, too bad I only watched D.C.: Da Capo and D.C.III: Da Capo III before diving onto this one. I went with something the like the one suggested on vndb, Sara -> 1st side story -> Himeno -> Charles -> Ricca -> Aoi Side Story -> Aoi -> Tomoe side story -> Elizabeth side story -> final side story.

I'd suggest going from 1st side story -> Sara -> Himeno -> Charles -> Ricca -> Tomoe -> Elizabeth -> Aoi side story -> Aoi. Seems like its not good reading the final side story without D.C. II though.

Himeno is bad waifu just like that one monster with similar hair and art as well as personaility of Himeno in Da Capo 1. Dont start with her!!

Himeno's route is actually good. In terms of routes I'd say Himeno -> Charles -> Ricca -> Sara
