Some questions regarding story/ending
1) Why did Anne's mother abandon her ?
2) What was in that envelope she left in the blanket ? If it is a letter, and it obviously a letter to Anne, please tell us what it says
3) Did this so called "mother" left Anne in a crate under the bridge in the rain, so basically killed her , seriously?
4) Is there 3rd ending or just Leave to Ether and Sacrafice yourself ?
5) Will be there any DLC ?

Developers, if you read this, please i need answers. Community, let's hear some theories.

If you choose to go through the Ether Bridge at the end, the letter Anne's mother tucks into the blanket gets added in the journal.

There's 2 endings but there's different end cards you can get (one of them being the Caretaker card)

Not sure about Anne's mother, but I assumed that she couldn't take care of her baby or like about to die and the father wouldn't take her (and possibly no orphanages around?). Though from her letter, she did want Anne to grow up and have a better life than her.

If you listen during the memory scene you can hear an man yelling at Anne's mother "I don't care what you do, just get rid of it" and then later, angrily "That isn't my baby, Im not the father". It doesn't explain in detail or anything but the implications are pretty obvious.

As for leaving her in a box, in a flooding river, in a rainstorm...........what the hell, hasn't she ever heard of a freaking orphanage?

My head scratcher for the go home ending is, what the hell happens? The game just starts again with Anne waking up in the forgotten world. That we had just been told was absolutely destroyed along with everyone in it. If you pick the other ending you actually get a "The End" screen and its over. So, is the go home ending some kind of Groundhog Day timeloop? Kind of lowers the stakes a bit for that ending. The other ending felt much more final and impactful. I can't help but feel the go home ending would have packed more punch if it had not somehow just acted as a reset switch or a "See, she was just sleeping, that was all a dream"

My interpretation was that by going back into the Ether Bridge, they were basically sent back into the state they were in before being forgotten. Specifically Anne's.

When you go to the bridge after finishing the game, what it essentially does is allow you to time travel to different points in time, supporting that. That's why when you cross it, you watch a cutscene of her mother abandoning her, and shortly before that starts, you see the clock stopping inside that shop (Bonku's shop?). But Anne didn't have a life, or a home, back in the human world. The only home she had was as a forgotling, so going back just sends her right back to that world, where Bonku finds her, and the outcome is the same.

Reading the letter, you can see her mother apologizing for abandoning her, and hoping she'll grow up to break the cicle, and be more accepting of others. Until you realize that this home is the only one you have, that this reality is your reality, you will never find peace.

That... actually makes a lot of sense.

I feel really sad for Anne though :(
