Managed to successfully play with Remote Play
I know some are getting error messages and I can't help with that, but what I can help with is if you can successfully connect, you're pretty much there.

The main problem is Remote Play will not automatically hand keyboard and mouse control over to the connecting player and will by default give that control to the host. My friend and I got around this by having him use a controller on his end. This gave him control over the desktop player with no issue.

There is also a possibility that if you disconnect your keyboard and mouse from the host computer before initiating remote play, it may give the connecting player Keyboard and Mouse control, though I have not tested this myself yet.

Good luck! 🙂

That's actually pretty smart, never thougth Remote Play would have a fixed assign order, but it makes sense

That said and for whoever finds this in the future, there's another way to work around the lack of remote play window for VR local games... it's a bit convoluted tho.

Just start Big Screen mode after your friend is in the remote play session, then open the Quick Access menu (on keyboard it should be Ctrl+2), and there you'll have access to the good ol Remote Play tab where you can assign the Keyboard to whoever you want. After that, you can quit big screen mode if you want to (I'm not sure if it affects VR performance)

I've had an open ticket with valve for months now and they confirmed they're aware of this issue, but they don't seem to be in a hurry to fix it.

The fact that they've been slowly unifying big screen and steamvr dashboard with the Deck's UI makes me think they might be preparing something... but then again it's Valve so it might as well be that they forgor we dont have quick access menu button in VR lol
