Disney messed up with the last Playset, the Marvel Battlegrounds one, for the Gold Edition, and forgot to unlock it and its characters.

Actually, they stopped supporting the PC version(meaning they wern't planning on adding any of the newer characters or playsets) before shutting down the game as a whole

This was also nearly two years ago now (I think, time flies doesn't it!), so they had no idea the Black Panther movie would be so successful.

It... is? The movie was... successful? I left the theater, with a slightly less bile than I left the TFA premier.
T'Challa... really doesn't show why he is good for Black Panther title, aside from heritage. He is not a good fighter, 90% of the match against that Gorilla Tribesman, and its his sister that is the genius one. 616 T'Challa was a good fighter without the suit and the power, and a genius level intellect that can call peer with Useless Richards and Prof X.
MCU T'Challa is not.
