Disney Infinity 1.0: Gold Edition

Disney Infinity 1.0: Gold Edition

Won't Start - Dead Server issue?
Purchased all 3 Gold Editions during the summer sale and just recently installed them for my son. I was able to get the Gold Edition 3.0 to start by following the advice in this Steam discussion (https://steamcommunity.com/app/541670/discussions/0/154644045361503122/) Unfortunately, using the same techniques fails to work for me on 1.0 & 2.0.

When I try to start the games, the program icon appears in the taskbar and the audio plays. However, the game is inaccessible. I assume this has something to do with the game trying to connect with the dead servers.

Troubleshooting I've tried so far:
Toggling between online and offline mode
Disabled applications in windows firewall
Deleted and then added to windows firewall
Attempted to start with network adapter disabled and enabled
Verified Steam cache

Next step would to completely uninstall and then reinstall both games. But I was hoping that someone might have a solution before I resorted to this lengthy process. At least 3.0 is playable in the time being. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

System specs for my son's PC:
Windows 7 (fully updated)
AMD Phenom II x4 945
GTX 650ti
Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H MB
8GB RAM
720p monitor

I wish I could help because I have similar issues.
Like you said 3.0 works fine (for the time being)
But 1.0 & 2.0 just does not work.
I have reinstalled them several times, but it stays the same.
My computer runs on windows 10 and the fact that 3.0 runs shows that there is no problem with my hardware or software to handle the game.

I found the solution!!! You are missing a file! the file name is: D3dx9_43.dll
Type this filename in google and you will find a lot of references to it.
You need to go to microsoft download the new directX.
If you can't find it... try to find an instruction video on youtube or look for it on google.
I use windows 10 so I don't know if it will work with windows 7.
I hope it works for you.

Sorry for the late response. I wanted to try this out before I responded.

I'm happy this resolved your issue. Unfortunately, it is not a
the solution for me.

D3dx9_43.dll was already present in my system. I ran the DirectX full installer just to be sure. Also, ran the Windows System File Checker with no errors. The problem remains the same. Infinity 1.0 & 2.0 will not run but 3.0 works perfectly.

Thanks for the reply though. Greetings from the US. :)

I had a similar problem with a 2010 HP Desktop PC with Windows 7 and Nvidia Geforce 300 serie. Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 won't start, 3.0 started but the menu did not show so it was unplayable too. However after updating the old 2013 driver with the 2016 version all three games worked perfectly. I tried also on a 2014 Toshiba Notebook with Windows 10 and Intel Graphics videocard, and 1.0 did not start either. I did not find a solution for the Notebook as now I can play on the desktop PC. Games worked also on a 2014 Desktop PC with Windows 10 and Nvidia Geforce GT 650. Point is, I do not think servers are the problem, as me too bought the games after they closed, so the problem I suppose is in the videocard. How it is possible that the old videocard driver supported 3.0 but not the previous ones is beyond my understanding, but it basically happened to me too. If you already updated it to the latest driver version I suppose you could either try another driver, or change the videocard if possible, or wait for the chance to play the games in another computer..

This solution works for me: Find your gale file "DisneyInfinity1.exe" and open the properties. On the compatibility tab check the checkbox "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and apply.
I done the same with DisneyInfinity2.exe

I had the same issue. DI 3.0 Gold worked fine. D1 and 2 would appear to be loading up and quit within a couple of seconds. I ran the compatibility checker and found a similar issue to Flood's response above. The system thought I was missing the DLL. I just decided to run the old DX installer DX Installer [www.microsoft.com] even though it didn't appear to be needed.

I've only played about 10 minutes on each but it seems to be working as expected.

Thank you junglist1319 so, so much! I have Windows 10 and every time I tried to play it quit after 1 second. As soon as I took your advice, it took right off. Thanks!!

It's been a while, but thank you for posting this response. It ended up being the one to help me after a lot of frustration.

i've managed to fix it for me by installing a direct x sdk that included a pile of DX9 dll files.

This solution still worked as of 07/07/21. Do this if the game is not launching or not responding after it launches!

After I tried the "Disable fullscreen optimizations" soution Disney Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 did not work right away. But after downloading the DX Installers they fired up right away without even restarting. (see junglist1319 post)

My issues began after I fresh install of WIn 10 on a new SSD hardrive. After updates of Win 10, Nvidia drivers, Steam, and then installed Disney 1.0 and 2.0 twice it didn't work. Infinity worked fine prior to the fresh installs. Installing the DX seemed to be the missing link for me.

Hope this helps. Great game. My 5 year old will be happy again!

I have the same problem, and use Windows 10, and that didn't work.

I don't understand what you mean by that.
