All his friendships were too idealized, he ''created'' a perfect group of friends with a perfect best friend, Larry, in his mind. All the continuous ''I'll be there for you Sal, I love you Sal'' etc seemed to me like way too perfect to be real. In my eyes, it's the friends he always wished having, who never at all passed judgement on him or even seemed scared of his appearance (given the fact that the kid had a damn prosthetic creepy face, not reacting at -all- or reacting outright ''Oh I love you!!' the first second, isn't very normal either...)
I thought, from the beginning, that everything being a product of Sally's disturbed mind was a fact, but everything I've read online are people actually elaborating theories of this and that... When all I think is that everything is a product of Sally's mind. He does move to the building with his father, I too believe that a dog destroyed his face, that hid father succumbed to alcoholism and that he became mad after that, but every reaction and impression on the neighborhoods and the consequent stories that derive from them are, in my opinion, the product of his mind...
I loved every other episode but this one
I was discussing with a best friend what we were upset with. We were okay with not ever knowing Sal's face as we kinda like the mystery behind it.. There are so many unanswered questions:
1. Why did Maple go feral?
2. is Travis alive?
3. Is Sal going to share Ash's body for now on?
4. Who were the other two people sacrificed among Maple and Neil?
5. Where did Larry go off to after the treehouse burned,?
6. If the souls of the Addison Apartments were saved thanks to Sal killing them, where are they?
7. Why was Todd's eyes still red even though he was supposedly saved?
8. Why did Chug and Soda have to die if as we saw in Chapter 4 as Larry, their souls were pure white and not corrupted? Wouldn't that have implied something more was going on?
I know others may have a plethora of more questions, but here are some major ones that bother me most. Especially not being able to ressurect Larry when Sal, Ash, and Todd were able to live.
I'm currently trying to unlock all the achievements, I've got DOG, Memorization, Secret from the Safe, Speaking with Jim, Finishing the Game... I only need 2 more achievements. I know one of them has to do with not getting hit /at all/ with the attacks. And this other unknown one I haven't seen anyone address yet. I'm assuming /maybe/ it's an achievement for getting all the other achievements from the previous chapters? Idk. I havent seen anyone else mention completing all the achievements on.
There was that Native American girl in the fourth world whose grandparents were of the Grey Tribe. Is she some sort of foreshadow to some new game for the series? Or was she and her dialogue placed just for the sake of lore and exposition?
But that's not to say Chapter 5 was awful. I loved the puzzles and art styles of each dimension. My sincerest and deepest respect and love for Steve for the work he put in, especially the stop motion aspects. I loved the combat. The ending had me frowning and exclaiming "That it!?!" otherwise though. It feels so shorthanded and incomplete. Even a roll of credits to show a "Where Are They Now?" closure would have been fine.
There definietely has to be something more in the game. I just don't know what and would appreciate anyone'sinput or help with the completion.
1 - the notes in Todd's house said that, basically, sometimes it be like that. I don't remember if those were the ones on the table in Neil's room or the ones on the couch in the basement.
8 - Everyone's souls are corrupted before you break those stones, and pure afterwards. You only reach Chug and Soda after breaking the 3rd floor stone, so their souls look clean. If you revisit other people after breaking the stones, you'll see their souls get cleansed too.
And btw, the final achievement is for unlocking the epilogue. The person who has it doesn't have all the achievements, though.
There's hope 👀
2. No, he went down in a hole, so he and Dogma are dead.
3. I think yes.
4. Clare Nettles and the lawyer.
5. He told it in episode 5, when you meet him.
6. Souls were saved, so they went to heaven or something like, but they couldn't stay in appartments as ghosts.
7. Don't know, but I think they eye vessels blowed up or he was permanently changed by Red Eyes demon, so red eyes are with him forever, as Ash blue hand and Sal voice inside head.
8. Previous commentary is 100% right.
1. Maple did live in addison apartments but was out of town when sal killed everyone. so il gussing the apartments corruption finally got to her
2. Probably not. i think he sacrificed himself to kill his father in the pit
3. No idea but if so yeesh awkeard
4. I recognise one of them, the other boy, from the kids school. he was a background character who became a big fan favorite among the russian audience. no one really knows why everyone was obsessed with that guy. im gussing theyre just fan favorite background characters cause steve is a sadist.
5. He went to the void. the afterlife for the dead. but the treehouse served as some kind of waypoint for him to get back i believe. he kinda sucked at explaining
6. I'd like to think theyre in whatever this universes equivalent of "heaven" is. theyre free from the darkness. maybe theyre somewhere in the light room
7. No idea, would love someone elses take on this plz im so curious
8. I definitely think something else happened. i mean the kill order DID come from addison who we now know was conditioned literally since birth to be a host for the endless one. maybe no one had to die
thats my takes!
Yes!
I loved reading all these theories, which just proves how many questions we all still have. Maybe the Epilogue achievement only gets unlocked once someones has done 100% of them?
I'm also intrigued by the native Grey girl that appeared in episode 5. With the whole thing of Larry's father being an alien of some sort, I couldn't help myself but associate that family with aliens, as in ''the greys''.
The one who get "Epilogue" achievement still didn't get 100% all achievements in the game though...
