Controls Don't Work, Please Help

Just bought the game and when I first boot it up, it gives me the option of using keyboard or a pad, as well as language options. problem is, I can't navigate anywhere on these options and the main menu, but I can keep pressing A on my pad or spacebar on my keyboard to select things and eventually start a new game. When the actual games starts, Sal is stuck moving to the left by himself and I can't do anything except pause the game.

I tried reinstalling the game, disconnecting and reconnecting my pad and keyboard, restarting steam, and restarting my pc. None of that worked, so now I'm here.

I FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME

On Win10, open control panel, go to device manager. If you go under Human Interface Devices (or HID) and see a bunch of duplicate HIDs, try deleting all of them, or at least until there are no more duplicates that are, for some reason, still there even if that specific device isn't plugged in. After I did this, I reconnected an old xbox 360 pad and Sally Face worked fine (as well as a couple other games I recently started to have this problem in). Hope this helps

Same here. I played the first four episodes without issues. However after installing episode five two days ago the controls stopped working... or more precisely they work partially.

I can not navigate any of the menus. The only option I can select is the first one lit by default ("start/continue" upon launching the game; "return to game" when pressing ESC while playing).

When in the game characters always walk left. I can make them move right and interact with objects but still, they go back walking left as soon as done. I get the same results whether I use a keyboard or plugging a controller.

The solution above did not work for me.
Another tread suggested to erase past saved games to fix control issues. That also did not work (with the result that now I can only start from episode 1 since I can not navigate the starting menu).

Does anybody know how to fix this issue please?

Just found out a solution. After launching the game and click on continue (so that the actual game is running) I have to ALT+TAB and select the screen. After that the keyboard words again and sally does not walk to the left the whole time.
I had a similar issue few mins ago with Space Ace. It worked there so I gave it a try for Sally Face and it works.
Hope this helps others experiencing the same issue.
