The worst part about this game...
... is that it leaves you out of the conversation.

Every single chapter in the game has "secrets" that are actually vital parts of the game story - and each chapter seems to presume you found everything in the previous chapter, giddily chatting away while you have no idea what the hell is going on.

As the first example, in Episode 1 you can find the haunted Gear Boy game, which Sal just magically has in the next chapter if you didn't, and also meet Megan for the first time, which Sal will remember doing if you didn't do that.

More importantly, if you never revealed Rosenberg as a ghost or collected the journals revealing Larry's father to be a space alien, Sal will still know that and tell that story if you select to "tell Larry the truth" at a later time.

This is especially problematic if you're watching a Youtube playthrough of the game, because I guarantee you that a typical Youtuber will find one (1) easter egg out of a dozen or so, and no more. They also won't notice the discrepancy, because of the huge amount of time that tends to pass between episodes.

It's so jarring and really ruins the game story!

Well, then why not watch complete playthroughs, or play and uncover all the secrets yourself?

Well, when you play the game yourself, you can estimate the amount of plot uncovered by achievements. Considering Letsplays: by now you clearly know that many Youtubers don't do full playthroughs, so why not specifically look for full ones?
