When I play the game, I usually think of where to place the final block so that way it can "erase" what I call the "objective cube". This works especially if the "objective cube" has three or more dots.

I feel you dude I had no idea what was going on until level 5 or 6 and it is still tricky. Other guy with "objective cube" fits though, it's a good explanation.
