*FIXED* Controller not working

I'm having a lot of issues getting any controller to work in this game. I've tried all the following controllers -
Xbox One series X
PS4
Xbox One
Xbox 360
8BitDo Pro2 (tested xbox, android, switch and PS mode) *more notes below
8BitDo SN30 Pro+ (tested xbox, android, switch and PS mode)
8BitDo SN30 (tested xbox, android, switch and PS mode)
Steam Controller
Switch Pro

I've tried controller emulator programs like
DS4
x360ce
GloSC

I've also reinstalled the game as well.

I was able to start the game with my Xbox Series X controller played for an hour or two. Went back the next day and all controllers are no longer working. Controllers are working fine for all other Steam games. In big picture mode I have controller configurations only enabled for Xbox controller, I did mess with enable and disabling various settings here but none helped.

*I was able to get the 8Bitdo controllers to somewhat work while in PS mode, but most the buttons aren't mapped, example Square is X but there is no O button mapped so I can't back out of menus.

I do not understand why you cannot use a controller because I use xbox 366 controller on this game without any problems Have you tried hooking up your controller after you enter the game

Yep tried plugging it in after the game started and got the same results. I should mention I've also tried plugged in through USB and through Bluetooth, 8bitdo receiver and an xbox receiver.

That is very strange My xbox 360 controller connects through usb make sure your OS is fully updated restart steam and your pc other than that I have no clue

Yeah I've rebooted like a dozen times since this issue started occurring. I'm on a pretty recent version of Windows 10 20H2, so don't think that is an issue.

Maybe you have problem with USB port or something?

Try entering Steam Big Picture mode --> Settings --> Controller Settings and select the support for the controller you prefer using. Usually when I have games that fight my controller in Steam, these support settings will fix the issue.

Finally fixed this issue. I ended up having to remove all controller options from within Big Picture. Not sure why unchecking XBOX controller setting resolved it but it did.

How did you remove your Controller? I can only configure it or change it to (for example) Mouse/Keyboard and I can hide it, but I don't find anything to remove it.

Gotta go into Big Picture mode in steam, under the View menu at top left of Steam. Once in Big Picture mode go to the Gear icon at the top right, then Choose Controller Options. Uncheck any that are checked. Close and restart Steam and try the game again.

Thank you for your answer. Sadly that didn't help either. Started the game in Big Picture, went into configuration for the game, selected my Controller. Still doesn't work.

Never had that happen in any other game. Really strange why this game has such problems...

Sorry I didn't mean to start the game in Big Picture mode. Don't do that. Within Steam start Big Picture mode, Once in Big Picture mode go to the Settings Gear at the top right, then into Controller Options and uncheck everything there. Then close Big Picture and start the game normally within Steam, do not start in big picture mode.

Thank you. Worked yesterday. Didn't work today, so I did the same thing and removed the Controller again. Works now. I guess if I try again tomorrow it's the same all over.

Just writing all that in case someone finds this thread and has the same problems.

One thing I also noticed is always make sure your controller is on before starting the game, it won't detect it if turned on after game launch.
