HD textures pack, why not in the main download game?
So, here's the question: When XSEED and the devs will add the HD textures pack to the game when we install it instead of having us downloading stuff and manually doing it? Not only the pack does make a huge difference, but even the buttons also look sharp (I don't know why every UI element in this game looks blurry and low definition when they clearly did everything they could to add a LOT of stuff to the graphics settings).

If you never used the HD texture pack, there's a very good reason why it's pinned here, you should totally use it. I just don't know why in 5 minor updates they never added these packs on the main files so we didn't need to download them separately. They did grab the undub audio a year later and shoved it into the game, and I remember well, it was a pain to grab every audio and swap them when I wanted to play this game with the original audio. So yeah, I was just wondering why. I think it's the same on CS2, you need to install the pack separately.

Again, I'm not complaining the pack exists, I'm very grateful actually, I know it's made by fans because waiting for XSEED to make a difference in the PC community is a pain (I'm still looking at YS Memories of Celceta being far better on PS4 while looking like a lazy emulation on PC), but if they did put the dual audio here without us having to do it so (even if it took years for them to do so), why the textures which are as important for the game than the dual audio are, it's not in the main game already?.

It's possible that XSEED would require Falcom's okay in order to add fan-made packs into the game officially. In any case, fan mods getting added officially to games almost never happens.

1. Because forcing those files on people against their will, and without them having made a proactive choice to accept those files onto their system, then that would be malware.

2. In the event that they replaced the official files with the end-user-made mod files by default, then that would also be false advertising, since they wouldn't be selling the full actual game which Falcom had made, whilst still advertising it as if they were doing so.

For those reasons, implementing the premise of the OP would be a very horrible idea.

As for the audio: that was made by the official devs, not by a random end-user. So that dev-made content cannot be legitimately conflated with end-user-made content, like the original post is doing.

1) This is completely nonsense and very obviously not what malware is. It would be a simple update, not unlike any other update, period.

2) This is more complete nonsense.

The developer of the mod already responded in their mods thread.... he stated XSEED was interested in adding his stuff to the base game but they weren't interested in paying him for his work and completely ignored him and stopped all communications rather than negotiate.

This is so not how that works... unless you think NISA using the Geofront translation on the upcoming Zero/Azure games is also malware... but THAT would be ridiculous... right...?

About malware, remember that the team that is bringing the Ys and Trails games are mostly the same for Pc, after YS8 weird launch, Durantte is the main lead for the dev team on the NISA ports too.

I'm not here to say how happy I am that I feel YS9 is the best port his team have done in the past five years, even Cold Steel III and IV lacks in features YS9 brings (especially the in-game option menus). They did have a very weird situation with malware and anti-virus but they already contacted Kaspersky for example, to complain since it's not their fault the anti virus is freaking out.

Now about the Pack:
First I though the reason was the game had some issues with the Pack that the Devs didn't want to deal with. But the Pack creator did answer that on the page, if you go right now to the end of the pack page, you can see his answer: Basically, XSEEd wantted to use his pack but didn't want to pay him for using it. Since he spent years making the pack from scratch, he doesn't mind to give the pack to us for free, but he would be very annoyed if XSEED sttarted making money with his work without paying him for it. So I understand him. I wouldn't want to work on something the devs should have done from the start, for them to use it without paying me for my work.

That's why the pack isn't in the main game files. They don't want to pay the guy for the files, sp the guy refused their offer: Putting the files in the main game, not pay him for a job well done AND make more money with the game anyway since, the pack deffinitelly (even if it brings some bugs to the table), makes this game a joy to play.

Frankly, this pack is the only thing that makes this game bettter on Pc for me, rather than the PS4 version.
