how do i fish up the gold salmon?

i'm trying to catch the fish on pc however the next mash button press is not fast enough.. i mash the button its asking for then have to wait for the next button to press to appear which is too fast. i turned off turbo mode so i'm not sure why i can't catch this stupid fish.. so frustrated

GOD THIS QUEST IS IMPOSSIBLE, AFTER 50 TRIES I'M NOT EVEN CLOSE.. idk how the heck people can finish this quest. i'm about to just abandon this

if you have an unlocked frame rate, you could try limiting to 30 fps to see if it's any easier.

Yeah, sometimes there's a frame rate issue that makes it much harder.

The controls you're playing on are important too. If you're on controller, try using the keyboard instead just for this or vice versa.

If you're normally a decent button masher, it's probably one of those two things and not you.

Honestly, I hate button mashing mechanics.

What fishing rod are you using? If you are using the beginner rod it's much MUCH harder to reel the fish in. If you have been fishing regularly you should have been able to buy upgraded rods from Kenneth which will make it much easier. I can reel in a gold salmon with the lakestar rod without hardly trying at all.

If you get the best rod and limit your fps so that it doesn't cause the issue mentioned above, then the whole fishing mini-game is pretty easy provided you're able to button mash. When the prompt goes to change, make an educated guess as to the next prompt and continue.
