Rare fishes?
Okay so I'm just gonna cut to the chase here.

I'm looking at this lovely guide on steam that tells me where to get what fish with what rod, yet for the life of me I just can't find the damn fish.

Case in point, Kasagin and Rockeater in Trista River. I've even did some CIA FBI top secret hacking(cheat engine inventory editting) to get me more groundbaits, yet after more than 100 tries, all I've gotten are Swordtails. I've gotten so many of them I can basically monopolize the entire Swordtail market of the Empire by now.

Here is what I have done to try to solve this "issue" that might not even exist. Note that I am only at chapter 1, the first free day(April 18th).

Save and re-load.
CIA FBI top secret hacking(cheat engine inventory editting)to get me more groundbaits.
Do the old schoolhouse quest and come back in the afternoon to fish again.

All of the above mentioned methods have not helped me get a single Kasagin/Rockeater.

I'm I doing something wrong here? I have read online that you just have to keep fishing and fishing but I feel that that might not be the solution. I mean, it is CHAPTER ONE, and the fishes can't be THAT RARE..right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I'm selling Swordtails at 2 mira each.

Fishes are always gated by game progression, so as long you fish at every spot you come across, you should not miss any fish. Even if you do miss a fish, the pond beside the gym will contain every fish you can catch, up to that point in the game.

You can't catch ALL fish in Chapter 1.

They'll all show up in Trista River if you miss them at their regular fishing spots, but only AFTER you've gotten to those points in the game.

Kasagin/Rockeater are both available to be caught by a beginner fishing rod though, according to the guide that is.

Now I'm not saying that the guide is the holy grail or something, but I guess I'll just come back later and go take the train. Thanks.

Or, if you're playing using a Clear Save to run a New Game Plus, which keeps all the fish unlocked even from the start.

But yes, if your game wasn't made using someone else's clear save, then you can't find more than those fish at all yet. Sorry you wasted your time. Only really worry about your fish count in Chapter 7. You should be at 19 fish then, because the 20th is a quest.

Yes, you can catch them with the rod - I think you can catch any fish with any rod - but you cannot catch them YET. You can catch them later.

I think this is true. I've managed to catch all the fishes available in the East Celdic Highway 1 in rather quick fashion. So I guess I would be able to get the other fishes available fishes back in Trista in chapter 2.

Thank you!

Is it possible that I can never get a fish even in Tristra if I missed all the fishing spots for a specific fish? I am struggling with Rockeaters, used 7 baits so far and not 1, I am right near the end of the game basically my last chance to get all fish, but Roackeaters are not biting.

After using a total of 12 baits in the river on the final chapter and not getting the Rockeater I needed, I reloaded and swapped from beginner rod to deluxe rod. 2 bait later I got it. Just posting this for anyone who comes after me.
