The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel

Same universe? (SOLVED)
Interested in picking this up, and saw some things that resembled Tokyo Xanadu:
- Towa, looks just Towa from TX
- The monsters look eerily the same as TX
The battle system also looks similar but that's just Falcom's specialty system they use on all their games.

You'll find that Falcom will put cameos and easter eggs in a lot of their games. I know there's actually some bigger cameos later in the Tokyo Xanadu eX+.

The Towa being in Tokyo Xanadu is actually pretty funny, Towa is practically Falcom's mascot now, I guess. xD

There's actually a joke theory that Towa is a dimension hopper and that's why she's in both games, haha.

Also, I'm fairly certain, for the monster and aesthetics, that it's just the games using either the same or similar looking engines.

In any case, the ganes aren't set in the same universe as far as we know and are certainly not connnected aside from easter eggs and cameos. Then again, I'm sure there are fan theories that every Falcom game takes place in teh same universe. xD

Thanks for the quick and handy reply!
I plan on picking up both games (already played TX on vita) and wondered why this game had a lot of similarities to it.

The two series are, in an odd way, Cousins. They root from the Dragon Slayer games, which has a habit of wildly spinning off. Tokyo Xanadu roots from Dragon Slayer II: Xanadu, which is part of the same series as Dragon Slayer: Legend of the Heroes.

Basically....

Dragon Slayer ---> Xanadu
---> Legend of the Heroes

This is also the same series that gave borth to Sorcerian and Lord Monarch series.

I guess I'll try and go for another answer before my thread gets steadily ignored:
Are the YS games any good?
I heard they're like TX.

The combat is quite similar yes, it also feels more fluent than how it does in TX IMO. Ys Origin has a free demo on Steam if you want to try it.

Nice!
Done with the questions but appreciate the helpful community, I'm gonna give the demo a shot.

I'm suddenly interested in Tokyo Xanadu knowing Towa is in it.
