How rare is the final fish?

I've been fishing at the pond by the gymnasium at Thors trying to catch this fish for almost ten minutes, and I've got nothing. I keep resetting because my groundbait keeps depleting.

If you're at 19/20... then the 20th is not caught there. Track down your fishing club friend.

You do realize that there's a fishing spot right there by him, right? It has to be done at that river, not the pond.

All the guides I've read say the pond though.

Ignore that part of the guide then, or report it. Fish at that river instead.

There's no rare fish in this game i believe. All fishes that you've been missed can be caught at thor pond or trista lake. As for fish no.19 its on lake if i remember it correctly.

I got it first try after fishing at the river.

i can only say from my playthrough ..not rare at all. Got the fishing achievement without ever looking at a guide. just fished when i cam across a fishing spot and used bait only 3-4 times when i felt like it. Last fish was second try at that fishing spot next to kenneth.
