WOW the third practical exam SUCKS (spoilers?)

This makes me sick lol...gives me the option to use any party member I want, then these blowhards FORCE me to choose 3 specific characters, 3 characters which I have barely used throughout the game. Nobody can be knocked out, I cannot use Arts, only Rean has a freakin' S-Craft, and I am severly low on healing items (lots of food and a few Tear Balms. I know I could buy more, but since its impossible to farm sepith unless you're currently in a dungeon, I'm afraid to spend too much money in this game, so I've been buying mostly new weapons/armor).

Oh yeah, and Nightmare mode. Whelp, I feel completely and totally boned. Not really asking for help here, but I needed to let off some stream about this lol..I guess I'll reload and check the store, see if I can at least update Gaius, Elliot and Machias's weapons.

I strongly recommend buying what you want while you're there (I always found attack / magic attack to be by far the most useful).

Alright, so I'm in chapter 4...when will I be able to do this trick? Because Elliot's obviously not with me during the free day, and once I enter the Old Schoolhouse, I won't be able to leave until I finish it, meaning I won't really be able to take advantage of the trick, since of course I need access to a store to sell the stuff I make... Do I have to perform the trick during the Field Study?

EDIT: Erm.....scratch that. It seems like I CAN leave the Old Schoolhouse. I don't know why I thought I couldn't...I coulda sworn on...the second visit, I think, it didn't let me leave when I tried. Or maybe I didn't try. I dunno. ^^; But, it seems this place doesn't lock you in after all, so that's good.

Yeah, the warning before you enter the Old Schoolhouse even tells you the time of day will change when you "Complete" it.

Ah.....THESE accessories. I can see why having lots of these for everyone would help make the rest of the game trivial. :P Would be nice to have enough to cover a full party (though I don't think I need 4 of each...there's specific ones that I think will be much more useful than others), but thaaaat'll take a bit even with the Mira trick. Ah well, time's a wastin', let's get cookin'.

Imo, if you don't mind using the mira trick might as well skip the annoying grinding of the cooking and just use cheat engine and give yourself however much money you want.

Nightmare mode is really something especially if this is your 1st play. Well at least try different combination of quartz for each person. For instance replacing the MQ for some character. since your rean have waaay above level than the other make him a super frontliner with brave MQ which give u bonus str for some turn. As for support ( elliot) u can go with starting MQ or replace it with Angel or Mirage. Each of em will give u different advantage depending on what kind of support your elliot will be. Gaius is ok with Falco because it give u insight status. And for machias.. do whatever u like with him ( i dont really like him in early game to be honest) but i suggest to make him support with break shot or art caster. Hope it help a little for basic setup

I beat them. You guys were right, that was easy lol. Just spammed Arc Slash and Gale Stringer. Was only doing about 400-600 damage to 'em a pop, but I was wittling 3 of them down at once the whole time. The healer revived Patrick once (I was wondering why he wasn't doing anything for most of the fight), but I quickly knocked him back down, and the healer only had like 1000 HP left or so :P Once 3 of them were down, the last one, which still had about 10K hp left, went down super easy.

This is one of those moments where I initially felt horribly overwhelmed by a boss due to the conditions I was placed in, but...wow, it ended up not being bad at all. xD It's a good thing they couldn't all spam Aerial.

I’ve only tried twice, but my last save is back before the dungeon boss and I’m not running it again. They don’t get in a line for me, one of mine went down and I’m not even gonna bother. Dumb design giving us a “choice” but than only allowing 3 characters.

EDIT: Don't you have auto-saves? You should have at least some or all of the auto-saves from your wandering around town sections to reload.

Why is it dumb? You didn't get a choice who you had to partner with for the first two practical exams. This false choice is about characterisation, showing how petty Patrick is.

But if you don't have autosaves, the lesson to take is "save more often." You had a whole wandering around town part to cash in your sepith masses, fiddle with orbments, buy accessories, and save in, and you can reconfigure your orbments before this battle.

My thing is that I save before each big "boss". IE, end of each dungeon floor and at the end of the chapter, I havent done it for the exams, becuase up to the third one I was having no difficulty. Besides that I forgot to save after defeating the last boss and I just didnt feel like fighting that boss for a 3rd time. Didn't even realise this game used autosaves, gonna have to try to find them.
