Game Will Not Launch/Start At All (Please Help)

I posted on the known issues pinned thread but it got overlooked (it does not appear like more than an unlucky handful are experiencing this issue) and I have tried every reccomended fix possible, including re installing the game and a few other things.

When I try to launch the game or the config tool it will appear as if it is going to launch and even steam will say that the game is running, however no game or config tool will ever actually pop up.

I am pretty competent with PC's but this is the first time I have ever experienced this issue. I see there are at least a few others experiencing this, anybody able to fix the issue that has had it?
Any help would be much appreciated as i was really looking forward to this game for months and dont want to refund it.

Hmm, what is your specs and OS?

One thing you could try is to shut down or disable all non ensentiall apps including anti malware foftware and the like. If that works, that that means something is preventing the game from running properly. From there turn on the apps one by one untill you isolate the problem.

I'm also have same problem.
When I'm launched this game.
It has white flashed and then it closed.
Also there is not error message.
Already tried to remove 3rd party video codec, set skip video in config and reinstalling vcredist but still I can't play this game.

I have a laptop with i3 2350m and Intel HD 3000 with 4GB RAM.

i have the same problem. I went into the toolbar and had it set to skip the opening and logo and that allowed me to play basically the first 30 minutes. But then it ends up doing the same thing right after the artillery cannons show up and Rean yells Stop. I'm assuming that's where the opening plays similarly to trails in the sky. So it seems like the issue is either with the opening video or the startup itself.

Additional things I have tried:

Running Filmerit and removing "bad" codecs.
Running InstalledCodecs and disabling all codecs on my system that are not made by Microsoft or AMD.

Neither of these seem to have made any impact.

try using graphic cards other than intel, I was having the same issue and then I switched to nvdia rather than using the built-in intel, everything works fine

Have tried the reccomended fixes in this thread, and i have yet to have any luck. This does not seem to be a widespread issue but as you can see from this thread there are a handful of people that have this issue and I have not seen anybody on the official forums say anything related to it. A shame beause I would really love to play this game, but cant.

The irony is that its not even like I dont have the hardware to support it, and I have ran every game fine for the past 5 years on this PC and keep it updated. Oh well, looks like its headed for a refund before I ever got to try it :(

you may try in configuration set that you want skip all movies

Ok so I tried something really stupid and it kinda worked. First off turn off the opening and the startup logos. That should allow you to play the beginning. Save before the last fight in the beginning because the game will crash. Do not close out instead if you can click on the game icon in the bar below that will come up when ed8.exe stops working and choose to start the game back up. I'd say leave that message open for a bit or at least until the cinematic ends to be safe. This will also happen during the train transitions sometimes but hey save often and you'll get away with losing maybe 30 seconds. Hope this helped

I bought it on GOG and have the same prob. And the thing is I have an intel HD 3000 graphics on my laptop too. Guess the issue is with mobile graphics. As they said only post 2012 intel graphics in requirements. Intel hd 3000 is 2011
