Glitch in chapter 4

Hello!
I’m stuck in chapter 4 (the forest) because of a glitch. I’m following the bad walkthrough on Steam and checked many videos on youtube, so I know what I’m supposed to do. The problem is that I can’t pick up the poison recipe next to the sleeping man: when I try to click on the paper nothing happens, and the cursor is not shaped like an eye as it’s supposed to be, but like a bloody red ball. I also can’t examine the corpses in the lake and other items in this chapter... the cursor changes, becoming a bloody ball, so I can’t click on them.
I tried to restart the chapter but nothing changed. I wouldn’t want to restart from the beginning because as much as I love the art style and concept of the game, I’m finding it very confusing to navigate and difficult without a walkthrough (often I can’t see where many items are, they blend too much in the background art). Do I really need to restart or is there another way? Thanks for reading. :)

You lost your eyes! Do you have them in your inventory? Use them to look at the items.

Omg!!! Thank you SO much!!! I googled all over and couldn’t find any explanation about this. I had found an eye in chapter 3, but I didn’t know it could be used to see cause my eyes were gone. I’m sorry, I feel stupid now, haha! Thanks again, have a nice day! :D
