Cheers!
Basically, that's like saying none of these games should exist cuz Mario Kart: http://www.moregameslike.com/super-mario-kart/
No worries man!
Going to buy this on release.
Heres my opinion from gamedev to gamedev.
Saying G&G is unoriginal or too similar to Happy Wheels would be like complaining that Grid2 (racing game) would be too similar to Need for Speed or Gran Turismo or The crew or any other of the billion racing games out there ..
All feature cars ; often even exactly the same ones (not same 3d models tough)
And roads .. adn driving with cars on roads and tracks.
Long talk short purpose :
Absolutely nearly any game ever made was and or is at very least only very slightly a ripp of of any other game ever made before .
Thats how game development is and will always be . you can barely make any game theese days without at very least only accidentally being somehow unoriginal.
Of course it is possible to be more unique .. but otherwise not neccesary and neither a sin .
So about G&g compared to Happy Wheels . the one is a free 2D browser game with own chars..
The other is an independent paid 3D steam title with pretty much original characters .. besides the guy on teh bike with his kid on the back .. but NO single person on this entire globe owns any copyright for a guy on a bike with his kid on the backseat.
The only copyright Hakjak and the makers of Happy wheels have is their games (brands) name and the assets in terms of models sounds textures and scripts unless they used some free /market and or open source assets .. in that case there would be other coypright situations .....which i dont know much about at all.
NO .. unless hakjak used any original asset from the game happywheels .
or unless happywheels somehow managed to get a copyright for a guy on his bike with his kid on the backseat .. which would be simply ridiculous.

I mean... a father and son on a bike and an old guy with a rocket propelled wheelchair navigating user created violent levels... this game has large, noticeable elements that are the exact same as happy wheels. Kind of a turn off for me tbh.
Oh yeah, totally. It just happenes to have the exact same characters and concept as Happy Wheels :D
Seriously, you took someone's idea, remade it in 3D, and you didn't even so much as mention the guy or the original game. End of story.
And the fact that you're trying to brush off the whole thing by referring to some non-existent storyline is even more disgusting.
So what about every fighting game with a dark haired guy in a white gi in it? Or a Bruce Lee expy with nunchucks and kiai shouts? What about Prison Architect vs Prison Tycoon? How about the various blocky mining/crafting games? Or Stellaris vs Endless Space vs Master of Orion vs Galactic Civilizations? Empire Earth vs Age of Empires?
How about every fantasy setting ever vs Lord of the Rings? Every last elf, dwarf, and orc.
