I actually didn't know Gallantmon/Dukemon was a Virus type! I've always associated it with being a good guy and thought of it as a Vaccine or Data, if anything-- guess the show really had an impact on me.
I could be predictable as all getout and say Beezlemon is my favorite Virus type, but I might have to go with the Dex-Dorumon line. Aesthetics are huge to me in this game (they shouldn't be, but I love having cute/cool-looking partners), so the whole line is something I have to say I love. (That, and their inclusion in the movie)
This game is just surprise after surprise for me, I didn't know Numemon and Sukamon were absent from it! I just assumed nobody used them, but now that you mentioned it, I really can't think about Digimon without them being in there somewhere.
Ah yes, good old Beelzemon never disappoints! The Dukemon/Beelzemon rivalry has always been a fun one. Completely agree with the Dex line as well, I particularly like the champion and uiltimate forms.
And yeah, sadly they are. :(
It would be awesome if they were included. So much potential for nostalgia.
I also like most of Guilmons evolutions.... Gallantmon not so much... Of course Wargrowlmon becomes more human-like when fusioned with his tamer.... But Gallantmon is just too different from Guilmon. Crimson mode again looks okay.
As for the most badass looking - Neo Devimon. Uhm... It is a virus type, isn't it?
I really hated V-Tamer tho.
When I was a digimon fanatic, that was when I was around 10-14 years old, I had to order the first 2 volumes from the publisher ...and I was really hoping for something digimon adventure-esque as Manga... but no.... we get This crap called V-tamer instead... I remember how dissapointed I was.--- Well. At least I got the Digimon adventure and 02 US mangas that were published by Tokyopop (bless amazon... at least back then). Those were great... and I heard they are quite rare now..
Wow... I derailed this .... Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.
Digimon fans talking about their preferences and experiences.
Aw I'm sorry you don't like Gallantmon/Dukemon. There's no cooler Digimon to me. I like the entire line a lot, except WarGrowlmon. Just not my cup of tea. I'm also not a massive Crimson Mode fan, he ranks only as "okay" to me.
And yeah NeoDevimon is virus type, and a pretty cool one at that.
That reminds MedievalDukemon is a thing. Super awesome as well.
He's my trademark Digimon in-game:

And honestly, I didn't even know Crimson Mode existed-- I didn't end up finishing Tamers/didn't see the last few episodes. It's interesting, but I prefer good 'ol Gallantmon.
I've never actually read V-Tamer. I read a chapter once, but I don't remember liking it too much. It was an interesting spin, but I prefer the anime over the manga in this case.
If I had the time/money, I'd definitely go for a Dukemon myself! It sounds like a lot of fun to train Guilmon up, but between finals and art, I don't exactly know if that'll be possible just yet |D Yours is definitely a good-looking one tho! Can't imagine how much it took to get it to 130% like that.
I haven't either, I've never read much about Digimon. All I know comes from watching the series and playing the games (especially the PlayStation ones).
It's always a good goal to have, I'm sure you'll be able to get one sooner or later!
And thanks! It took a lot of persistence, I think I used between 500-700 fruits. I was aiming for 129% only since it's a much more realistic goal, but Lady Luck decided to bless me. ^_^
I only have one 129% Digi right now, and it's a Vritramon so I feel like it's a bit of cheating (the fruit for those is so broken, it's not even funny). Still, I kinda wanna push for a 125+ Alphamon sometime, unless I do go for Dukemon!
(I'm not sure where everyone stands on dub names vs the Japanese names; I always end up using a blend, so I'll end up saying 'Gallantmon' one post and then 'Dukemon' then next on accident!)
Digimon World 1 is a classic, 2 is very enjoyable as well but requires a more patient type of player, and 3 isn't as fun as 1 but it has a nice plot and the combat system is okay (not as good as DW1 but still good).
I haven't played those yet, what are they like? :o
Whoa, lucky you. I've attempted to get my Kaiser above 125% a few times already and always fail miserably. Pretty awesome you got your Vritramon to 129%.
Hahaha I know! I do the same all the time too. xD Always switching between Dukemon and Gallantmon, both sound so good.
It's pretty fun! There's a neat mechanic (not sure if it's in the other World games) where every time you see a particular Digimon, you get scan data from it to add to your party once it reaches 100%. This also worked for higher-level Digimon, so if you see enough Garurumon, you can skip Gabumon and stuff like that. Still working my way through it, surprisingly |D It's been years.
I'm such a sucker for Frontier, I knew I had to go for max on the Spirits as soon as I got them (they were a huge reason for me finally joining, actually!). Definitely leads to a broken experience, but it's pretty fun. It's absolutely massive tho, so my own game lags when I'm logging in sometimes xD I hope I can get my Wolfmon to that level too, but I wouldn't mind Garm at that percentage either |D
But yeah, obviously DW01 has a big meaning to me due to nostalgia, but I still firmly believe even the fans of today who never played would enjoy it massively. An important thing about it is that back then having a computer and internet was a rarity, so you had to find everything by yourself including all the secrets (the game has heaps) without help. It required a lot of exploring, revisiting places with new Digimon to search for new clues / Digimon specific reactions etc. It was (and still is) amazing.
It sounds pretty good! I guess it's a bit like Pokémon's GameBoy / Nintendo DS etc versions.
I have to admit I never watched Frontier, so I'm not very good at it. :p
I only know what I've read, but it seems to have had some pretty good stuff in it. I'm more of a fan of the original generations, these were the ones that marked me the most.
It's actually pretty cool that you're focusing on the spirits, usually nobody cares about those. They're viewed just as means to get the Hyper Spirits everyone wants. It's awesome to meet someone who actually actively uses them and wants to fruit them to 129% or 130%.
It definitely has shades of Pokemon in it. Although you can carry more than six Digimon with you at a time in late-game (I think you can have nine at some point), the 'capture' is entirely different, but a lot of the items and turn-based combat is pretty similar. One thing I really liked was that you could see the order of attack and plan a strategy around that. There's really no better feeling than seeing a line of your Digimon up the screen with only once instance of a boss monster for the next ten rounds |D
Frontier is the black sheep, I'll admit that. I enjoy it though, and I really liked the concepts-- which was a major reason why the Spirits weren't present in a lot of other Digimon titles. (bad habit of getting attached to anime characters, they're all named after their anime counterparts...)
I'd love to get the Hyper Spirits sometime, but I definitely enjoy them as-is for now! My Agnimon is only 125%, but I'm trying to get it higher; I'd willingly spend time on them individually, and I don' t think I could give them up, even for the Hyper Spirits or Susanoomon ||D
I think the community never really enjoyed not having main Digimon per se, and rather have the tamers transform themselves. It feels like they lost the cute tamer/Digimon connection of the first seasons. But some of the plot appears to be really nice, especially the ones involving the first apparitions of the Royal Knights.
I'm sure you'll get them eventually! Just make sure you get separate spirits for that, would be a shame to lose a 129% Vritramon and the other high % spirit Digimon I'm certain you'll get. Kaiser is arguably the most useful Digimon in the game, and unlocking Susanoo is a pretty awesome bonus.
And nice king! You must be having a lot of fun in this event then, with the virus boost. ^_^
My Beelzemon is level 72, so it's a nic eopportunity to train it. I don't have the BM unlocked yet though. I wish I did, it'd make the training much more enjoyable.
And whoa, nice to see a fellow Leviamon user posting here!
