Admin/mod please read
Ok for the past 2 weeks I have been asking for help and everyone is ignoring my plea. I've been playing this game for four years and I have never used any mods or hacks or what have you. I have done everything I could to get rid of the Gameguard Hack Error. Now, it's escalated to the point where something has happened. Turned on my computer this morning to discover that my wallpaper has been changed to a screen shot of the game of a player whom I don't know. All my antiviruses missed this. Bitdefender missed this. You guys need to look into this player.

I have pictures of all of this but the players name that appears on the screen shot is MatiArg7

There really isn't anything at all they can do to help you with the limited information you're providing them with.

There's no option to post a picture on the forum (at least from what I'm seeing on the mobile). I think I've given them enough information to work on this. I've had several other posts pertaining to the Gameguard error and no one had even bothered to help. On the Gameking forum for DMO (where my account is) the "moderators" just always instruct people to post messages in the Steam forum. Their customer service is garbage.

Alright, so to save you the trouble of finding my other posts in bug report. What has been happening the past couple of weeks is when even starting the game I've been getting the Gameguard error "hack detected." Like I said, I've been playing for 4 years. Usually to work around Gameguard there are steps like disabling antivirus, or firewall. Something easy like that. Anyway, I tried all those steps, deleted the Gameguard folder, and closed off every single background app running. Nothing helped. Now, the only step left to take is resetting my computer. I've accepted that's what I have to do. What my post is in regards to is that my wallpaper was changed to a screen shot of someone else's account which is clear I've been hacked. No one else in my house uses my computer.

The only manner someone could have possibly done that is by making you download a keylogger trojan, which then was used to infiltrate your computer and grant the hacker access to it.
If it's the case I strongly recommend truning your firewall and anti-virus on again, and making a deep virus-scan in your computer to see if you find any threats. That's pretty much the only manner someone could've changed your wallpaper for you.
If you dowloaded any 3rd party programs that's another manner someone could've gained access to your account, as these usually have password grabing programs hidden within (keyloggers & trojans etc).

I was totally thinking it was something like that too. My computer has Bitdefender and McAfee (curteousy of GeekSquad) as well as Malware bytes. Ran CCleaner to fix registry issues as well. None of those programs found anything hidden. Which is why I'm thinking a reset is necessary. I really do appreciate your help, though. It's nice to see someone finally reply to try and help.

What I find most bizarre about this is that whomever had done it wasn't after my account. My character hasn't moved from Dats centre and my Tera is untouched.

Is it a GameKing account? A while ago there was a website exploit some morons used to hack people and destroy their work, but it was fixed eventually after a big fight to get the GMs to acknowledge it was a real thing and not just 'players fault' for 'not protecting their accounts well enough and sharing private info'. All that was needed was the ID. The hackers also managed to fool some staff members into giving them IDs of players who had never shared their info. It was a big mess.
My point is it's possible there's another similar exploit going around, if you truly haven't found any keylogger nor have given anybody access to your computer via an application like TeamViewer etc.
I'm also fairly certain anybody who has studied your account and knows many private details about it could also trick the support staff into changing your email / password for something of their choice as the support staff isn't know for being very competent in that aspect.
However, that doesn't explain how someone changed your computer's wallpaper. That's the most worrisome aspect of all of this situation. It implies they have free access to your computer, which is a very dangerous thing. Best you can do is either clean your computer entirely as you're doing, checking if your firewall and anti-virus are working properly and updated and if your router is properly secured.

Oh wow! You might be onto something. This recently started happening when I moved into an apartment and am with a different internet company. My computer doesn't have Wi-Fi (Cyberpower pc) so it's hardwired. Perhaps someone did get through that way? Would changing the password really help?

i'm not gonna accuse anyone of anything, but the majority of the dmo bots have keyloggers on them, btw

Completely agree. I've been posting in the Steam forums warnings about downloading 3rd party programs that are almost always infected with keyloggers.
PSC for example was used to grab IDs for many of the exploit abusers who 'hacked' accounts; and countless people still happily used the bots not knowing not only they were cheating but they were also forfeiting control of their accounts to the hackers. Many got their deserved punishment of losing their 'hard work' because of this, and it served them right.

The GameGuard "hack detected" is popping out due to something. We have that program in use for a certain reason. Yes, some bots pass by, but the majority of viral or suspicious secondary programs don't.
Like previously mentioned, you're most probably having a virus so please, check your computer because it is not possible to be playing this game on the same computer for 4 years and just now having troubles with GameGuard all of a sudden.
