Portentum is out now in Early Access, and it's free to play. Thank you to everyone who played the demo during Next Fest or sat down to roll some dice with us at PAX West.

Portentum is a deck-building auto battler where you build a roster of cryptids, each with its own ability, and send them into battle.

Portentum is playable start to finish today, in three modes: Standard, Arena and Tournament. Card packs, the collection, achievements, journals and the soundtrack are all in, and it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Every warband you fight was built by another player in the same round, with the same chances you had, so you're never fighting a bot. That's also why Portentum is online only: you'll need an internet connection to play.

The core game and its mechanics are in place. Balance and content are what we're still working on. The card set we're launching with is enough to get started, and we have plenty of new cards and abilities to add as we watch the meta take shape. Every card is hand painted, so new cryptids take a while, and we'll show them off as they're finished.

Expect rough edges in the interface, balance that moves from patch to patch, and features that change shape once we see how people play. We're aiming to leave Early Access by the end of 2027, and we plan to keep Portentum free after that.

If you'd like to back the game, four optional editions are on the store page. Each one includes the cosmetics from the editions below it.

• Bronze: 1,400 Gems, 5 Arena Tickets and the Bloodseal border and card back

• Silver: 2,000 Gems, 10 Arena Tickets and the Prism Mirror border and card back

• Gold: 3,000 Gems, 15 Arena Tickets, the Lunation border and card back, and the Rune Circle shop background

• Platinum: 6,000 Gems, 30 Arena Tickets, the Prism Smoke border and card back, and the Crystal Cave Battlefield

Your edition unlocks the next time you launch Portentum through Steam.

Our Discord[discord.gg] is the best place to reach us, and we read the Steam discussions too. We balance from what you tell us is frustrating or fun, along with the data on card win rates, and we post patch notes with every update so you can see what changed.

If you're enjoying Portentum, a Steam review helps a small studio like ours more than almost anything. To hear about everything else we make, follow Snowfall Games on Steam.

Good luck on your first run.
