Generally speaking, the newer cards will be stronger than the older cards, but there are so many different types of abilities that none are "best" in every situation.
Supremes are incredibly powerful, but they still fall into that rule in that they are just the "best" for their intended use, and will most likely be outclassed by non supreme abilities for other uses.

But about 80-90% of this game is farming materiels or story/event progression/completion.
Multiplayer and tower is only a little part for most players.
Being more Tanky with Lof doesnt help much to grind through the most part of this game.
I thought about this things before i said that aerith is better. But thats only my opinion.
