Reducing the card count (and other questions)
Hi,

I recently started the game, currently Level 22 (so too late to go back and re-roll for a supreme support). I'm trying to get through the Act I story first before branching out into events in Act 1 (then repeat in Act II) and so on, but based on advice I found on this forum I did take a detour to the Novice's Hall to get those jobs and skillseeds (Yggdrasil Zones 1 and 2 are also cleared, but I don't remember when I did that). I've also been getting the daily Magicite and the Mobius Gift Boxes constantly.

I reached the end of chapter 2 and found that my Ability Cards and Storage were completely full and I couldn't find a simple guide for dealing with that. All that I could conclude was that selling was a bad idea compared to using Fusion to unlock the skillseeds in my 1-Star cards and augmenting them to 2-Star and eventually to 3-Star so they're always dropped at those levels. But as there are 78 of these 1-Star cards in total in the game (and 274 in the 2-Star range), I'm not sure this is a viable strategy.

I went ahead and unlocked skillseeds for as many of the 1-Star cards as I could, and even augmented the Dust Sorcerer to Level 2, but now I'm going through Chapter 3 and it's filling up again.

I'm currently using 4 of the 5 decks, one for each of the 4 Job types I have so I have an elemental spread, with the Main deck being used for levelling up the 1-Star cards, and the other side using the 4-Star Level 70 cards I've gained through summons. Obviously, the sub decks are the ones used for battling while the main side gets the experience.

So my questions at this point (going through the menus) are:

  1. Am I using the most efficient methods for this point in the game?
  2. Is it worth levelling up the Card Level on these 1-Star cards before augmenting? Or just stick with the skillseeds and Ability Level?
  3. Is Auto-Enhance counter-productive to the "get all 1 and 2-Star cards to 3-Star" goal? What other downsides are there to using this, and what's the best way to use it?
  4. Who are the best people (or cards) to follow?
  5. I assume I should leave the Ability Shop for later?
  6. I understand that Standard Summons are a waste, but with only 63 Summon Tickets, how do I know which Campaign Summons to try for besides the free ones? I think I missed out on Supreme Summons recently because I didn't realise those tickets would disappear.
  7. Is there anything else I "should" be doing at this point in the early game (I assume it's still early).

Thanks in advance for reading and for any insight.

I'm not planning on going to the multiplayer component for a while at least. But you're saying that the main decks should be optimised for skillseed collection?

just ignoring MP is silly, as you can get 100 magicite daily just from joining first clears (hosted by others) and you can get 5 ability tickets per first clear you host. not to mention free skillseeds and materials that can be traded in for stuff. if you are uncomfortable, go check out my MP guide here on steam guides section (mrowmrif2); it will prepare you for performing any role.

If you don't need both decks capable of fighting in order to clear fights, then yes, having your main deck set up to maximize some form of income is a great idea.

Only the main deck affects your resource boosts (crystals, skillseeds, gil and XP) so that's the only option for effects that increase your gains.

On top of that, the skillseeds you gain are determined only by the skillseeds on the cards in your main deck. So if you need a certain type of skilseed most, you want to have cards in your main deck that add that type.

You can easily just run with your sub deck set up to fight and your main deck set for "farming" in 90%+ of the content in the game and then set up for dual deck fighting when necessary.

The reason for that is because I'm still learning the game and want to get the hang of the mechanics and complete the story before thinking about expanding past that. But thanks for pointing out the guide.

I'm only on Chapter 3 of the story, and with the Novices Hall cards upgraded I'm not really being pushed to think about how to fight so everything is on auto at the moment.

I don't think I have a particular skillseed I need at this point, but I'll definitely look into trying to maximise something there.

Multiplayer came out super early, so while the 5* fights might be out of your league, you can definitely do most of the 1-3* range, especially as you'll have bands of eager magicite farmers jumping in to clear it(helping someone with a first clear gives 20 Magicite, up to 5 times a day)
Being carried is perfectly fine in anything short of top end event bosses(like the recently run Squall Leonhart fights), in part because half the playerbase can one or two round most of the normal fights, even at 5*, whether it be Supremes or just plain good builds

So just go check the guide, the healer set up in particular is super easy, with the only trip up being having a Job that is a healer

I've finally gotten around to cleaning out my cards and done the following:

1. Set one of each 1-3* card to Auto Sell and Favourite.
2. Sold any duplicates I had remaining.
3. Moved 1-3* into the Bank.
4. Bought as many 2-3* Ability Cards that I could with the Ability Tickets that I have.

Hopefully that's the right setup for going forward?

Dude... just sell everything 3* and make space. Its all garbage if it isnt 5*
Zeokage 28 Okt 2019 @ 1:02am
I'm sure that's the case once you get to a particular point in the game, but until then? Otherwise, what you're saying goes against everything said earlier in the thread.
goredrinker 28 Okt 2019 @ 5:08am
not really, does ANYONE use 3* cards? >no. 4* cards? >no. your deck level is your stats, and cards under level 80 are pretty useless, even detrimental. and you arent going to just spend growstars liberally to 4* every card you have sitting in your bank that you arent using. not to mention you wont be 5* augmenting every 4* card you have either - only those that you need/are useful.

AND to those points, you can always just to into ability shop and BUY THEM BACK. why in god's name would you just hoard cards you aren't actually using? look at your cards... augment those that you need right now... ensure you aren't selling limited event cards that are not in the ability shop (rare occurrence, and the cards in that case aren't that useful anyway)... and then SELL EVERYTHING under 5*.

i didnt even read anything said above because strategizing in this manner is pretty straightforward... hoarding is nonsense. common sense inventory management is sufficient. sell sell sell.

I used to save a copy of everything in bank or inventory, but after 3 years and around 2300 cards in catalog... you realize about 10% of all of that is actually useful. Just sell everything and only use the best cards you have. You can always rebuy anything you need and have pulled or bought before.

Yggrisal zones dont get cleared. They are automatically considered finished as soon as you go to the area. They are only for leveling up cards.

You should do events as they are available. There is no benefit to delaying doing anything that is available especially limited time events and the ranking event. At least get the chest rewards for the nodes.

Make sure you are leveling up good weapons. Preferably weapons with prismatic return if you have any. You can check online to see which weapons will have which unlock bonuses.

Do not level up any job cards in terms of the overboosting. Save the Overboost J's for the better jobs such as ex jobs and legendary jobs.

Save magicite and summon tickets for the once a month increased supreme card draws. Preferably, save them for when they offer the increased supreme cards by job type.

Focus on finishing the Act I and II boards to get as many summon tickets and magicite rewards and once you collect all of the rewards, wait for the supreme summon special and spam for supreme ability cards.

It is worthwhile to focus on leveling fast because it means more stamina and that means more effectiveness for elixirs on mobius days.

Snip.
You answered his original post from august, not his more recent question about inventory management...

The extra advice is appreciated though. :)
