Only got one match in and it feels solid.

Few matches in, its still solid.

Outside of some connection and errors the netcode itself was pretty good so far. Gonna try and fight someone on a different coast tomorrow and see if that changes.

I just got Chaos Code. I am from Chile so I was not expecting playing with anyone outside my country in Network Mode. I put Quick Match just for the lulz, expecting the worse. I played with a guy from New York and it worked AWESOME, almost flawless. It worked even better than GGPO for me.

Color me impressed.

The netcode is pretty decent. If you find someone in your area, it's great!

Unless you have God tier first world country internet in Chile out of all places, this is physically impossible (Location stated in the steam profile doesn't mean that person IS there). The only way I can think of the match feeling lagless at all was if the entire input delay load was pushed to the client, leaving the host lag free (Wouldn't be the first time it happens in a fighting game).

Netcode is surprisingly really good and this is coming from someone who hates delay based netcode entirely.

EDIT: Now that I've had a few days to play on it. Netcode isn't bad, but it isn't great - just alright. Playing against strong connection players, matches feel great without any noticable delay. Against weaker connection players, matches do have more noticable delay and occasional hiccups. It's still worth buying for netplay.

Ever heard of rollback, friend?

Ever played bad rollback?
You trade off lag for constant jittering.

My "first" fighting games were played on the ggpo networking library, so.
Rollback netplay implemented properly balances both out, so you don't have much of either. It feels smooth.

Our friend Rednavi made it sound like Delaying inputs was the only way to set netcode up.
Now if Chaos Code has rollback netplay I have no idea, but I'd imagine so if people are saying it's "perfect".

I'd say perfect in this context would be good enough that it doesnt matter what it uses.
are there lobbies?

Surprisingly yes, complete with spectating.

yes there are lobbies- work like most Arcsys published games.
I think the concern was due to the pricepoint that they would cut corners.

I've only had a few matches but I'm thoroughly enjoying my time. Definitely better than SFV from my experience. :P
