Daymark 1.4.0 Update | Play a Hand with Your Companions

Oct 24

This update adds a new Games section to Daymark. Alongside sharing your desktop with companions, you can now invite friends or add computer players and play cards right beside them.

Six Games to Play

Dou Dizhu: Call and compete for the landlord role, double the stakes, get hints, and drag to select cards.
Run Fast: A three-player shedding game, with support for sequences of two consecutive pairs.
Texas Hold’em: Bet, raise, go all-in, and play with side pots.
Blackjack: Hit, stand, double down, and split.
Changsha Mahjong: Supports chi, pon, and kan calls, opening-hand wins, last-tile play, and bird bonuses.
Riichi Mahjong: Supports riichi, tile calls, yaku-based scoring, and East-only matches.

The original companion multiplayer experience remains available as Free Mode, supporting up to eight players on screen.

Choose a Game, Then Find a Room

Open Games to browse all rooms, or choose a game and create a room for it. Room capacity depends on the game, and each room’s game is fixed when it is created. To play something else, create a new room.

Want to play on your own? Create an invite-only room and fill the empty seats with computer players. You can fill all remaining seats at random with one click, or choose their characters yourself. Computer and human players share the same seats, so a full room needs an open seat before a friend can join.

Your room visibility preference is saved locally. All game rooms require an available Steam connection, including rooms where you play alone with computer players.

Play Right Beside Your Companion

Use the main window to manage your room, players, and results. Your hand and action buttons appear alongside your companion.

Cards appear above or below the companion, depending on its position.
Your hand stays closer to your companion, with played or community cards farther out.
Click and drag to select multiple playing cards.
Mahjong features updated tile faces and backs, with separate areas for your hand, discards, and melds.
A prominent prompt highlights opportunities to win in Mahjong, and result markers remain until the next hand.
Right-click a companion during a game to open the chat and settings menu.

Play at Your Own Pace

Room hosts can choose an action time limit of 15, 30, 60, or 120 seconds, or no time limit. Your choice is remembered separately for each game.

Results remain visible after each hand, and the next hand waits until all human players are ready, giving everyone time to review the cards and outcome. Texas Hold’em and Blackjack track chip balances and refill counts. Each refill adds 1,000 chips; human players confirm their own refills, while computer players refill automatically according to the game’s rules.

Daymark 1.3.1 Update: Performance Improvements and Bug Fixes

Oct 7

Hello everyone, Daymark 1.3.1 is here!

This update focuses on reducing resource usage and addressing issues reported in version 1.3.0. Thank you for your feedback, logs, and help with testing.

Performance and Save Improvements

Reorganized save data to reduce repeated reading, parsing, and rewriting of the entire save when progress changes.
Removed redundant data from level milestone snapshots while preserving the information needed for milestone cards.
Reduced background processing overhead to improve periodic CPU spikes and memory usage. Results will vary depending on your hardware, companion, and usage.
Existing saves will migrate automatically after updating. No manual steps are required, and your progress and level milestone history will be preserved.

New “Run as Administrator” Option

When some games run with administrator privileges, your companion may stop responding to keyboard input. You can now enable “Run as Administrator” in Settings and choose to restart immediately or later.

Once enabled, Daymark will request administrator privileges on future launches. Windows may display a permission prompt.

This option can resolve issues where Daymark cannot detect keyboard or mouse input while a game is running with administrator privileges.

More Complete Information in the OBS Window

The separate window for OBS capture now supports player nicknames and shared status information. When connected with friends, you can record companions alongside member information while keeping your game screen clean.

Nicknames and statuses continue to follow each player’s display and sharing settings.

“Restore Defaults” for App Status Presets

Built-in app presets now include a “Restore Defaults” option, allowing you to restore the official status text for your current language.

If you previously added custom descriptions for an app that later received an official Daymark preset, you can now easily switch back to the official wording. Fully custom app entries can still be deleted as before.

Other Improvements and Fixes

Improved handling of companion size and position after changes to screen resolution or display scaling.
Improved fallback handling and diagnostic information for startup and save recovery.
Standardized parts of the dialog, Settings, and Status page layouts.
Simplified settings descriptions and standardized terminology around “companions.”
Improved feedback during administrator restarts.

We hope this update helps Daymark run more smoothly and reliably as it keeps you company. Thank you for helping it grow, one step at a time!

Daymark 1.3.0 — Steam Workshop Is Here! ✨

Sep 30

This update brings Steam Workshop support to Daymark! Discover characters you love, welcome new companions to your desktop, and share your own creations with other players.

✨ Meet Your Next Companion

Browse, search for, and subscribe to Workshop characters directly in the app. Once downloaded, they’re ready to use. Workshop characters can include multiple appearances, custom themes, and progression-based unlocks, depending on what their creators design.

Workshop character growth and unlock progress also support Steam Cloud, so you can continue your journey together on another computer.

🤝 Bring Workshop Characters into Multiplayer

Your Workshop characters can now join you in multiplayer rooms!

Other players can temporarily download the resources needed to see your character on their desktops, even if they haven’t subscribed to it. A cloud of smoke and a progress indicator appear while the character loads. If loading fails, you can retry directly from the room without leaving and rejoining.

Temporary downloads won’t automatically subscribe you to a character. Once nobody in the room is using those resources, Daymark will clean them up in the background.

🎨 Bring Your Creations to the Desktop

The companion tool, Daymark Workshop Creator, supports Cubism model imports, character appearance and input configuration, themes, tasks, previews, and Workshop publishing. Creators can customize input feedback, music notes, and unlock tasks to give their characters a personality of their own.

Everyone who owns Daymark will also receive access to this companion tool.

We can’t wait to see your creations on the Workshop!

🔧 Other Fixes and Improvements

Added stronger restrictions on background windows and notifications to reduce unexpected interruptions during gameplay.
Improved detection and multi-monitor behavior for the experimental automatic click-through feature.
Fixed companion clipping in some multi-monitor setups.
Unified music-note sizing for local and remote companions and fixed clipping at the edges for local notes.
Improved Workshop cover layouts and fixed new-character notification dots that wouldn’t clear properly.
Expanded localization coverage and improved Workshop browsing and character loading.

Thank you for your testing, feedback, and patience. This is just the beginning for Daymark’s Workshop, and we’ll keep improving it. Please let us know if you run into any issues.

Have fun with your new desktop companions! 💛💛
