Cliques, Membership and Effects

No matter how I intend to start a game, I always end up focusing on friendships and clique members. Anyone else play that way?

I was able to get 21 clique members in my last playthrough before the summer break. I think that's the highest I've ever had. To be honest I can't say I noticed a large difference in how the game played after the first 7, though I know that each member can affect event/adventure success if they have more skill in the option than you do.

i play like that too but, BUT you shouldn't have cliques that are beyond your ability to engage with.
because your fellow student will form Cliques them selfs, and be better off for it, if you take too many member in your own cliques you rub the opportunities for your fellow mages to from their own cliques.
and you want your fellow mages to be as capable as possible for the most part.

Interesting perspective! Interestingly, I noticed when you use "Common Ground" on students who are already in a clique, they actually stay listed as members of their previous clique as well. You're make a good point, I doubt I really make meaningful engagements with most of the members of my cliques because they're so large, I often don't even get around to most of their personal adventures. I should take that into consideration next time I play.
Since that post I've gotten up to 35 as my best. Not even really a Clique at that point and more of a personal army.

lol yeah those clique benefit seem nice but the best part of the game is that there is a bigger part of the game that is every one of your class mates interact with the world. i would just do a small cliques with members that i want to do adventure with.
