The refund option is a poor excuse to justify cowboy developers i see it used time and time again....
Like i said the longer they can keep your money the more money they make their are plenty of vid's on the net explaining this.
Their is absolutely no reason why pre-orders should even exist apart from to raise the price of the game by offering limited time variations or to get your money 6 months before like the saying goes time is money.
Bottom line: 99.99[9]% of the time one's view on what is "good" or "bad" is subjective, which means it is their opinion. Doesn't mean they're wrong, simply means that's their truth but it is not a fact.

Hi.
even if we ignore the game itself lets look at the other major rpg studios
obsdian. deadfire was trash tyranny was unfinished and other worlds was meh at best.
bethesda. fallout 76 enough said
Bioware. andromada and anthem
CDred cyberjunk
at this point trusting a major rpg to be good a preordering is asking to be burned
Why do you think we get a low quality Battlefield, Need for Speed and Assassin's Creed every year?
pre-orders aren't the issue, lazy formulaic games are.
Rubbish they starting to appear more commonly around 2010 and on wards when Steam really started to become a force and stores were becoming irrelevant.
For instance the first Total war game i remember being pre order was Empire in 2009.
Wtf are you on about you cannot include store pre-orders were talking about pre-orders with incentive's like this game.
And btw when you did order from a store you did not need to put any money down so please just stop with the crap and misleading information.
Also, you still don't know what you're talking about. There were pre-order bonuses in the 90's. For example, some retailers offered a free CD with pre-orders of Pokemon Gold/Silver. No one is forcing you to pre-order. Feel free to just not do it. Pre-ordering saves you like $5 on paid DLC that will be in the store anyway. Paradox uses the same DLC policy across all of its games.
And I'm over here still enjoying my copy of Chex Quest. 💀
Again you did not have to buy the game as a pre order no money was taken if you bought from a store the most they would take was a deposit or just you name and number.
The trend we now see is game companies asking full price with incentives to lure people into getting your money quicker.
