This game seems to be Bloodlines in name only. They should have called it something else, "rebirth" or something. It looks good on its own without using a name it'll never live up to.
We do seem to have less customisation than what kids a used to these days. They have not revealed how much we can change visually and all we have seen is the female MC with different colour nails, hair and eyes. Cloth can be changed in game an apparently changes some of the dialog that happens in the game.
So far we have seen no sign of abilities or other types of stats for our character. Only vampire powers (with those we got about 6 for each clan and can gain additional vamp power from other clans to mix into it) and it looks like we can only have 4 activated powers available as we play.
There seem to be no inventory and no weapons for our character, so only vampire powers and unarmed fighting.
No, there is a male option.
Based on what we've seen though there is no difference between the two.
What are you one about?
Oblivion had more customization than this game.
Dark Sun for DOS had more customization.
M.U.D.s have more customization than this game.
This isn't 'what a kids used to' this is 'what elders are used too'... Newer games have jack for customization while older games even games that ran on PCs prior to them being Windows or Mac... had more indepth customization...
Gumby a game on a floppy disk had more in the way of customization...
NOTE: The rest of this is more to add to the topic at hand not really in reference to the quote above.
You get a choice of 4 clans (Tremere, Ventrue, Banu, Brujah).... out of the 13 core clans... we are missing the options of Losombra, Hecata, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Ravnos, Salubri, Toreador, and Tzimisce.
NOW let's say they needed one that fit with the Cairo narative... well even then we're missing a few options... Anpu was a prominent vampire in ancient times (Gangrel), The Methuselah Ramessu were Ravnos, even the Nosferatu were there in ancient times. You also have to take into account that even the Hecata were active there in the form of the Cappadocians. Don't forget that there was the group allied with the Camarilla called Ashirra who were made up of Brujah, Banu, Losmbra, and Banu.
Let's see groups so far who were active in Egypt around the time Phyre would have been there ore prior to them... Losombra, Hecata, Gangrel, Ravnos, Nosferatu, Banu, Brujah. Want to know what options are on the final list that don't have much historical precedence? Tremere and Ventrue.
NOW that said... I think all clans should be available mainly because they could all have easily been operating in the region I just don't have any knowledge of Tremere, Ventrue, Malkavian, Toreador, Salubri or Tzimisce being there off the top of my head... but they all COULD have been there.... so to limit the options for the sequel is asinine.
You were a blank slate in the Original. You're Phyre the Vampire in this one, with a voice in your head for quips and exposition.
