They use a name, that is uncommon and gender neutral, so they don't have to record NPC dialogues twice. Just lazy.

yeah but there are probably a thousand archaic gender neutral names they could've used that don't sound ridiculous.

if I were to make a serious suggestion, they should scrap the gender choice and lock in female protagonist. then change the name to Phyra or Esphyra; someone in the other thread that got deleted mentioned that as a variation of Esther. either of those would be 100x better.

No way I dont wanna play as a woman. Phyre is a dumb name though.

kind of is ya, feel just a more wide name like The Ancient one or whatever would have been better, but will wait to see it in fuller context and handeling.
