Day and Night Cycle
Hi What do you guys think about a day and night cycle? If the weather would have a dynamic system this would totally fit in.The question is, if you can do something at daytime too or maybe you have to escape to your sarkophage and sleep until night.Lg

I don't think it needs a day and night cycle. In the lore of game, vampires are almost instantly ashed if they so much as touch daylight. It's kind of like a giant death laser in the sky for them because of their religious ties all the way back to Cain.

So, having a day cycle would be utterly boring. You would just sit indoors until you could play the game again. A mission involving approaching daylight or dodging godrays could be neat if done sparingly.

Yeah but it would add a little survival element to the game

If by "sparingly" you mean "never", then I agree. Nothing pisses me off more than insta-death mechanics.

Would be less survival and more of you literally needing to stay indoors for an entire day cycle. Would get annoying quick, which is why I highly doubt they would ever do that lol

Most likely won't.
Unless there's something to this thinblood thing we don't know.
I recall somewhere in the lore that the rule of Cain is overdo.
Not sure the technicals, but it seems he cursed vampires from touching daylight.

If his rule is gone then that would mean vampires can be in daylight again.(?)
Sooooo we could have daytime game-play maybe?

If understand right, there are merits in the 5th edition that allow some Thin Bloods to withstand sunlight for brief periods, so I guess daytime play is possible, but I don't think it's practical since most characters wouldn't be able to go out during the day
It could work if it was a little like Skyrim’s system with some touches to it. Maybe that indoors, you wont suffer from day time, but outdoors requires you to go back to your nest and rest to skip daytime. Or perhaps nest in a building’s crawlspace to skip, like a designated quick save spot.

Ive personally never been a fan of the “instadeath by sunlight” lore in the sense that vampires are individual organisms: in other series they simply outgrow/adapt to the sun damage to the point it becomes a minor annoyance for them. But i also dont see a point in changing the nightlife theme and lore for this universes’ undead, so call it a compromise with my above suggestion.

The moon reflects sunlight. Shouldn't vampires turn to dust while outside at night in moonlight?

Its fiction. To ask for logic is too much :P
Anyways, Instadeath is a bad idea. But I could imagine the day being a period of the day where certain areas that are connected via the sewers are active while they are not at night, like special dungeon like locations or something like that. On the otherhand Kindred use the day for meetings or something like that.

However, I would be no fan if we suddenly are able to endure the sun. This is not the Vampire Diaries and we are not Klaus :P (Well we can be, but without the ring^^)

Thin-bloods, in 5th edition, are close enough to humanity to be in sunlight for brief periods of time.

I don't think a cycle would be good though as your actions would be severely limited in the daylight.

Maybe there is a daywalker skill and you can go shopping when is daytime and on evening you do your regulary vampire stuff

Interestingly, some thin-blooded, ghouls and gargoyles (can not move xD) could benefit from that mechanics. For example attack vampire enemies during the day.

absolutely not!

I'd love it.

Be great to have a set piece similar to the first but this time you have a werewolf that has traced you down during the day and you have to escape not just a rampaging beast with only one thought on its mind, to kill you...again, but to do so while essentially playing a "the floor is lava" game on steroids!
