The custom battle generator is now available. Before we get into that though a couple of changes / fixes to mention:

• Visibility was often not recalculating leading to enemy units remaining spotted when the player no longer should have sight of them - Fixed, back to resetting every turn as intended.

• Some Soviet HQ units were missing from mission 1 of the Soviet campaign - fixed.

• Some tweaks to infantry LAW/MAW style weapon hard attack values.

Right, onto the big thing for today.

In keeping with the spirit of CWB I thought it should be as quick and simple as possible to put a custom battle together. Lets take a look at how it is done (As ever reading the instructions can only help...) This mode is accessed from the Title screen. A change to note from the main game, mouse wheel scrolls through the unit list with + and - handling the map zoom in the editor)

And that's it! Nothing else to do other than lead your forces to victory or find out you bit off a little more than you could chew. Of course there is plenty of pre-made content to go at and more to come in the future but this, alongside the random battles will hopefully help you all get a little more out of the game.

One last thing, this is not a full editor and nor is it intended to be. It is a battle generator. That said if you play a custom battle and are particularly proud of it, then before you make another (Which will overwrite it) feel free to send me the "exported_map.json" file from the CWB Scen folder along with a briefing text document. If it is good and I get enough then I will try and get them into the game in a community scenarios section. EDIT: The correct version of the file would actually be in your user/app data/ Cold War Battles folder and not the game folder.

With this being the second big update in as many weeks, do not be alarmed if there is a bigger gap before the next one.

Thanks for reading and indeed playing,

Chris.

The Middle East DLC seems to have gone down well so it is time to share a little about what is next for CWB.

Well for reasons that are well covered in the FAQ a full map / scenario editor is not going to happen in this game. However hopefully soon you will be able to place whatever forces and objectives you like on a selection of existing maps and launch straight from the custom battle generator into the fight.

Now, I will be the first to admit that the interface is not a looker but it was only really meant for my own use. Whilst not pretty it will at least be simple. A few options such as turn limit etc will be set in the menu screen, you will be transported to your selected map and all you have to do then is place the opposing forces and any VP locations you want, press a button and fight it out. A little more work to do but past the biggest hurdles and confident I can get this into your hands soon.

Well my plan was to take it easy a little for a week or 2 post DLC release so some relaxation is in order. The new FPC:CW Dutch DLC won't play itself. That said I feel sure another Company level scenario featuring a West German Panzer Brigade will arrive soonish too.

Some of the other things I had hoped to add simply are not going to work sadly so they will have to be pushed into a future project but hopefully the above will be well received.

Chris.
