Hi there :D

Does the crash reporter pop up? if so, just send the crash log to the devs. If not, upload the log file located in your documents folder and post the link here, so the devs can have a look at it.

Not sure if that has been fixed yet, but Bitdefender antivirus could cause issues too. Exoplanet writes log files to the document folder of the user and bitdefender doesnt seem to like that.

log files can be found in

Documents/Alersteam/Exoplanet - First Contact/

files in question are:

system.log
cegui.log

cheers :D

Nope, no crash report. Worse yet is it appears the game didnt even make a folder in Documents to put a crash report

I dont use bit defender either
it usually does. that is weird.

the reason why bitdefender causes issues, is because of a protection feature for some folders including documents.

try to launch the game as administrator dircetly from the installation folder maybe that will help.

Thats strange, the installation says I already have that installed. Im gonna attempt to uninstall and reinstall the Visual C++ thing

Ok well the C++ installation is stuck and isnt progressing anymore

Looks like my problem goes beyond this game not working. My computer is refusing to install the C++ package

ok yep, I see the problem. Seems that my PC's windows update service has been corrupted. Nothing wants to update even my anti virus's update ability was disabled 4 days ago
urgh that sux

Ive run into this exact same problem 4 times. My only solution now is to reinstall my operating system.

Alright thanks for trying to help man but looks like this issue is part of a much bigger one

Looks like I missed an important thread while I was away. Glad to hear your problem is solved. I hope you will enjoy the game despite the fact it is still pretty raw, especially in the beginning. Feel free to ask any questions and post your feedback. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
